Hector Lavoe: You ever seen a coqui sing? You've never seen one because you can't see them. They're there. You can hear them, but you can't see them. And they only sing one song. And it's two notes - Just like that, all their life, their whole life. They're born to do that. And they live everywhere in Puerto Rico. And they can't survive anywhere else in the world.
Puchi: Hector always knew he was gonna make it. It was like he was prepared for it.
Puchi: Hector never knew how much people loved him. And that's the thing. It's like he didn't want to know.
Hector Lavoe: I started singing when my mother died. I was 5 years old. My father believed that my pain was my voice.
Puchi: What's the first thing you're gonna do?
Hector Lavoe: What?
Puchi: When you're famous, silly.
Hector Lavoe: Why are you so sure that I'm gonna be famous?
Puchi: Because I know these things, that's why.
Puchi: It was good. It was bad. It was beautiful.
Puchi: What ever happened to your brother?
Hector Lavoe: He died when he got here. He was supposed to take care of me.
Puchi: Well, I guess we'll just have to take care of each other, okay?
Puchi: Love is never perfect when it's reaI love, all right?
