Suggested correction: There is no clipping. When his head is turned, its head is in front of the branches, and when he starts looking forward and goes on his hind legs, its head is behind the branches.
I don't see any superimposing. Its head is in front of the branch. It's even clearer in the moving scene, no superimposing to spot. Is this screenshot from the VHS version? Because if it's not visible there, it won't be in any other version either.

Just to be clear, I say the head is in front of the branch, not the other way around. Only when it starts looking to the front do its head and neck move behind the branch.
