Continuity mistake: Pay attention in the beginning of the movie, when Ordell is showing some "girls with guns" to De Niro. While he suggests to run fast the tape, he presses the REWIND key. The expected one would be the FF key. (00:04:25)
Continuity mistake: Jackson, Fonda & De Niro are first together in Jackson's apartment and Fonda is sitting provocatively on the sofa in shorts with her legs crossed right/left. Shot changes over Fonda's shoulder and her legs are crossed left/right, back to original shot and her legs are crossed right/left again. (00:06:40)
Continuity mistake: When the phone rings for the second time, Ordell is about to take a sip from a glass in his left hand. When it cuts, the glass is in his right hand. (00:08:25)
Continuity mistake: When Ordell and Louis gets to Max Cherry's office there is a yellow cup and a filer close to each other on Cherry's desk. When it cuts you can see the cup has moved away from the filer. (00:10:35)
Continuity mistake: When Jackie leaves the bag in the dressing room for Max, it's on the middle cushion of three. However, when Max looks into the room, the bag is on the left cushion. (01:47:00 - 01:57:19)
Other mistake: When De Niro and Bridget Fonda are talking and trading hits off of bong, alone in the apartment, while they're talking there comes a pause where they both look at each other with their mouths closed, and you can here someone coughing in the background.
Continuity mistake: When Samuel L. Jackson shoots Robert De Niro, why does the blood spray forward onto the windshield? I admit it does look impressive, but he shot him from the side, so it makes no sense for the blood to spray at a 90-degree angle.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene when Jackie is doing the trial run with the southern girl she is sitting at a table in the food court. Watch her right hand, at one point she tries to tap her cigarette in the ash tray and they immediately cut to a scene where she is holding the cigarette up by her head, so it looks like it never happened.
Factual error: The mobile phone which Ordell (Samuel L. Jackson) uses in the film is the Motorola StarTac, which was made during 1997. During the movie Michael Keaton says in his tape recorder : "date, July, 1st 1995....", telling us the film's set in 1995.
Visible crew/equipment: During the opening credits we see Jackie Brown walking along a greenish tiled wall. In the reflection of this wall we can see the shadow of the camera and a soundman.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jackie is interrogated for the first time by the policemen Ray and Mark, she has to unload her bag. The shots switch between seeing Jackie (while unloading the bag) from the back and seeing her from the front. When seen from the front, we see a cup standing on the desk, next to her bag. In the shots taken from the back of Jackie, the cup has disappeared.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where they are doing the money exchange (for real this time) in the plane, Jackie Brown puts the money in her bag and then starts piling clothes on top. If you watch, she drops a small white bag (possibly a make-up bag) on the floor to her left. In the next shot, it is no-longer there yet she has had no time to pick it up. Further to this, it is also the last thing she puts in the bag before zipping it up.
Continuity mistake: When Jackie is buying the suit for the first time in the mall, she is quite a way away from the till when the assistant shouts for Jackie to get her change. But, when we see it from Max's POV, Jackie is closer to the counter at this point.
Visible crew/equipment: During the scene when Jackie shows up at Samuel's place, Samuel and Jackie walk out the glass door, while Robert De Niro stays inside. When Samuel is done arguing with Jackie, he opens the glass door. If you use slow motion, you can see a crew member/camera man standing there. [Slow motion is permitted for significant mistakes like a crew member in shot.]
Factual error: When Max returns to get his gun from Jackie, she invites him in for a cup of coffee. She puts on a Delfonics record, which starts with the song "Didn't I Blow Your Mind." It then goes to the song "La La Means I Love You." She doesn't touch the record once it starts playing. There was not a Delfonics record pressed that has those two songs together in that order.
Factual error: Ordell's house is set in Hermosa Beach. In the scenes that you can see out of his living room window, there is the beach, and a bike path approximately halfway between the house and the ocean. The bike path in the movie is a good distance from the house, but in actuality the Hermosa Beach bike path is right in front of the houses. There is also a rock formation seen outside of the window, which is not in Hermosa Beach either.
Character mistake: Near the end of the movie when Ray shoots Odell, Ray checks Odell's pulse using his thumb. Since the thumb has an artery in it, you should never check someone's pulse using your thumb. As a cop, he should know this because I'm sure he's taken basic first aid.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene towards the end of the movie when Louis is explaining to Ordell what happened to Melanie, they are riding in a van. Several times during this scene, if you look out Ordell's window, you can see the trailer that the van is riding on (as well as the lighting/camera equipment used) in the reflection of many of the storefront windows.
