Revealing mistake: In the first meeting with the Director of the FBI, you can see some of the latex is peeling off the Russian Major's burn, just over the right eyebrow there's a small flap of it. (00:13:15)
Revealing mistake: As Politovsky is walking up on the orange van before they ambush him, you can see one of the men walk past the left back door and can see the window on it. The window is completely covered in frost with no parts disturbed. Then after they shoot Politovsky with the rubber ball and are loading him into the back of the van, you can see the door again but now there are clear finger prints on the window in the frost from where they did previous takes of this shot in filming where the guy grabbed the door there to close it. (00:14:00)
Revealing mistake: The prop weapon that is used as the Jackal's big gun has some flaws. When he turns the weapon on Lemont, you can see the ammo feed belt just fall out. (00:58:20)
Revealing mistake: When Lemont reacts to getting shot in the arm, this exact same footage of him is used again right before he gets shot in the chest. They just reused the same expression reaction shot twice. (01:00:30 - 01:01:10)
Revealing mistake: As the Jackal is opening up his large weapon onto Lemont and Lemont's car, there is a close up of the car's fender as bullet holes get riddled through it. Just before the third hole appears, you can see an outline in the paint where a patch is covering one of the special effects explosive charges rigged to blow the hole open. (01:01:05)
Revealing mistake: When The Jackal shoots Koslova through the couch, you can see a small hole in the fabric of the couch already there, before it's made larger by the special effects team's work. (01:25:05)
Revealing mistake: When the Jackal shoots Douglas, you can briefly see the outline of one of the blood packs under his white shirt. (01:32:50)
Revealing mistake: After the Jackal's van and weapon are destroyed, we get a shot of Preston and the First Lady on the ground as they are helped up. There is lots or concrete rubble around them from the building, however you can tell it is obviously just made of foam. Especially the way Preston knocks it around as he's getting up. (01:44:35)
Revealing mistake: Near the end of the film, when Bruce Willis is trying to escape into the Metro station, he swipes his fare card through the turnstile reader upside down - you can see the magnetic strip is visible above the slot. It still works anyway. (01:45:30)
Revealing mistake: When Declan first starts trying to shoot at the Jackal, his timing of trying to simulate the kick of the gun is off. The kick and shot would be simultaneous but there is a slight delay in his reaction. (01:49:35)
Revealing mistake: In the scene towards the end, where Declan has chased the Jackal back onto the subway platform, and has just followed on himself, behind him you see a man (possibly a cop) running to get out of the way of the guns, but just before going out of shot, he stops running and just casually 'strolls' to the edge of the set (some kind of small booth or shop on the platform). (01:50:55)
Suggested correction: This doesn't really reveal any mistake. I see the guy he runs into it and then slows down as he looks back. There's not really much else place to go and he just saw that Declan wasn't shooting any of them, that the previous guy, The Jackal, was the one shooting the cop. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with how this man acted as he went into that booth.
I watched the scene and he's running out of fear along with everyone else and the just stops running, as if he thinks he's off camera, and the starts to walk, but he never turns around. Everyone else is ducking if they're not running. It would not be a natural reaction in that situation, especially since people were still screaming.
Revealing mistake: After Declan and Preston say their goodbyes as Preston turns his back on him to let him walk away, the camera starts to pan up as Declan begins walking down the road while Preston goes to the little shop to buy some coffee. Only a few moments later in the same shot, it reveals there are train tracks cutting behind the shop, and there is now a train passing through that Declan walks in front of where we never see him again. The problem here is that this train is moving at a speed that it would have already been close to that railroad crossing while Declan and Preston were speaking. Trains are required by law to sound their horn when close to crossings, and it was close enough that we should have heard it several times already while the two were talking. Yet the train is now there only moments later and it never sounded its horn. Also, as the train is going by, the railroad arm is still up. (01:59:30)
