Corrected entry: When Derek T tells Akeelah that he wrote a poem, she wants to read it. He tells her that he'll show her if she wins. By the time the end of the movie arrives, the poem is never mentioned. Not even in the deleted scenes.
Corrected entry: Akeelah spells the word 'concierge' wrong, without the second 'c', but is given it as being correct by the judges.
Correction: Akeelah quite spells the word correctly in this scene. The sound levels may affect how this is heard.
Continuity mistake: In the scene with the regional spelling bee, Akeelah's turn is before Javier's. Then, when Akeelah's mother pulls her out into the hall, Javier's turn appears to be before hers as he stalls for time so Akeelah will not be disqualified. (00:56:35 - 00:58:55)
