Continuity mistake: When Dwayne finds out he is colorblind and cannot become a fighter pilot, the family is driving on a busy freeway surrounded by other cars. When Dwayne runs out of the van and has a meltdown after they pull over, they are on a quiet road with no other cars surrounded by an open field and a residential area.
Other mistake: The VW has no clutch, so it would not be able to reverse, however at the gas station and at the hotel, it is parked backed up in to a space they couldn't have driven right in to. At the gas station at least they could have easily parked alongside the highway.
Factual error: Upon arriving at the beach-area hotel in Redondo Beach, the family is quickly exiting the freeway and the hotel is at the exit. In reality, there are no freeways anywhere near the beach sections of Redondo Beach (for several miles).
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the pageant, the emcee asks the audience to give a hand to the twelve lovely contestants. However, only six come out in swimsuits. Later, as the MC sings "America the Beautiful," there are twelve contestants on stage.
