The Stone family is a close knit, outgoing family who enjoys the holidays. There is the father who is a professor, the mother who has a secret, a daughter who is pregnant and is with her daughter, a gay son with his boyfriend, a lade-back son and a judgemental, acerbic daughter. However, a businesswoman who is uptight and conservative accompanies her boyfriend, one of the Stone sons who wishes to propose to her, home for Christmas. Merideth, due to uncomfortable feelings, invites her sister Julie to come, which causes more problems. During the 3 day holiday many secrets and feelings are shared as Christmas day approaches.
