Our setting is in the tiny village of Nong Pradu, Thailand. During the middle of the night, a thug named Don takes the head of the village deity, named Ong-Bak. A severe drought hits afterwards, and the villagers realize that if they have any chance of surviving they need to recover the head of Ong-Bak. They send a young orphan, Ting (Tony Jaa), trained in the deadly art of Muay Thai, to Bangkok to recover Ong-Bak before the village well runs dry.
