Factual error: Based on the lottery poster, the movie is set in 1925. During the scenes in Tampico, numerous newer cars (closer to the 1948 filming) are present in the background.
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
1 factual error
Directed by: John Huston
Starring: Humphrey Bogart, Walter Huston, Bruce Bennett, Tim Holt
Continuity mistake: Near the end, banditos murder Fred C. Dobbs and leave his stripped body by the waterhole as they go chasing after the burros, which they later try to sell in town. Within hours, Howard and Bob Curtin ride right past the same waterhole on their way to town, but Fred Dobbs' body is nowhere to be seen.
Gold Hat: We are the Federales... You know... The mounted police.
Dobbs: If you're the police, where are your badges?
Gold Hat: Badges?.. We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges.
Trivia: Director John Huston has a cameo as the white-suited man who gets increasingly irritated when Humphrey Bogart repeatedly begs him for money.
