Evil Dead II
Evil Dead II trivia picture Video

Trivia: There is a Freddy Krueger glove in the tool shed when Ash kills Linda. Look for it above the door. It's also on display on a wall in the fruit cellar.

Trivia: When Ash is possessed of the evil presence and beats up the girl, he throws her on the couch and chuckles evilly (or hornily, same dif). He is stopped from committing further molestation by the sight of that ugly piece of jewelry that he gave to Linda earlier. When the necklace gets a closeup, the chain forms the outline of a skull.

Trivia: In the last scene, after Ash has traveled back in time, a knight lifts his visor and shouts, "Hail he who has come from the skies to deliver us from the terrors of the Deadites." This knight is Sam Raimi, the director. The knight to his left is his brother Ted Raimi. (01:20:20)

Trivia: The person wearing the Henrietta costume is Sam Raimi's brother Ted Raimi. Ted Raimi can also be seen in Army of Darkness as the S-Mart clerk in the U.S. ending, and in Ash's pep talk to fight the army of the dead.

Trivia: This film is actually still the center of a massive fan-controversy. The opening scene re-caps the events of the first film, but changes some major details, causing many fans feel this is a "remake" of "The Evil Dead", not a sequel. In fact this film is a sequel, the footage had to be altered for legal reasons, after footage from the first film could not be obtained, and then again for time reasons, because the recap would be too long if it included all the major events from the first film. However, despite director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell explaining several times that this is a sequel (including in the DVD commentary for the third film), and the fact that the end credits refer to the film as being the sequel to "Evil Dead", some fans still feel it is a remake.

Trivia: The beginning of this film is a recap of the events of the first installment. However, all of the footage is newly shot, and completely rewrites the preceding events in order to suit the direction the writers wanted to take this script. There are many changes. Three characters completely disappear from the story, the Book of the Dead is given a new name (It was not called the Necronomicon in the first movie), the bridge is much sturdier in appearance, and the book is not destroyed in the fireplace. Continuity mistake: When Ash is crawling through the cellar, he finds some of the pages, and he holds them in his right hand. Only problem is, he cut off his right hand earlier and attached the chainsaw to it - the film was flipped so he'd appear to be crawling in the right direction. (01:06:15)

Ash: There's something out there. That... That witch in the cellar is only part of it. It lives... Out in those woods, in the dark... Something... Something that's come back from the dead.

Question: If this movie is a sequel to the first Evil Dead, how come it only shows Ash and Linda driving up to the cabin and not the other friends? Also, why does it show Ash playing the recording and not Scotty, like in the first film?

Answer: Sam Rami could not get the footage of Evil Dead to use in the sequel, so he remade the movie in a shortened form for the beginning. Since Linda was the only original character other than Ash to come back he included her in the recap but deleted the others as not to waste time. An in universe answer could be that trauma of losing his friends made Ash block them out and rewrite history in his head, except for Linda who comes back to haunt him in the movie so he is forced to deal with it.
