Factual error: When they are reminiscing about the riots of 1968, when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed, they show people looting in front of the barber shop. However, in 1968 Calvin's dad would never have owned a barber shop on Chicago's Southeast side where the movie was filmed, because black people were not allowed in that area near the beach.

The councilman and the land owner tries to bribe Calvin into saying that he wants the land deal to go through. Calvin makes a big speech about how the south side is made up by people not businesses. Nappy Cuts opens and many people go, but Calvin and the shop members wait while loosing faith. Suddenly the shop's regularly customers all walk into Calvin's barbershop because they liked how he stood up for all of the people of the south side. Rick and Terry get together.

Answer: Calvin did give him a chance to cut hair. That is why Kenard had the chair in the first place. It was the people of the neighborhood who didn't want him to cut their hair, as he is new, and they have no clue if he will be good or not (just as he proved with Alderman Brown). This is the same as Isaac in the first movie. Once he proved himself by giving Jimmy a good haircut, people began choosing him.
