Factual error: Soldier calls General Wainwright "Colonel" to announce MacArthur has arrived to leave the Philippines by PT Boat to Australia in March 1942. Wainwright held the rank of Major General in 1942 and is wearing that rank in the movie. (00:14:42)

Factual error: Just after the start of the Korean War, McArthur places a map of Korea on the hood of a jeep to explain to a subordinate general his plans to invade Inchon. The map shows the boundary of North and South Korea not along the 38th parallel, which was the border at the time (1950), but along today's DMZ - not established until the Korean armistice was signed in 1953.

Factual error: In the opening scenes of the Korean War, you will see the unmistakable silhouette of a McDonnell F-4 Phantom jet doing a bomb run. These were not introduced until Sept 18, 1962. The Korean War was in 1950s.

Factual error: During MacArthur's briefing to FDR, he intends to land troops on Leyte Beach, but points to a spot on Lingayen Gulf on the island of Luzon (another beach landing site). Leyte Beach is in the Visayan Islands. A bronze monument stands there today to commemorate that landing. This is also where he made his "I Have Returned" speech.

Other mistake: In the earlier part of the movie (at Corregidor Philippines) where Japanese warplanes are bombing the field camp, it can be seen that a warplane approaching its target can be seen with no bomb attached underneath, and yet an explosion takes place on a targeted machine gun position. The action scene is repeated minutes later, this time hitting the escaping and running soldiers.

Factual error: When Gen Macarthur is being briefed about the defence of Australia, by Gen Blamey, the Brisbane line is discussed. General Blamey, an Australian, would not have used the American pronunciation of Brisbane, (Bris-bain) He would have used the Australian pronunciation, (Bris-bun).

Factual error: The shot of the atomic bomb exploding, presumably Hiroshima, is of a later test, as you can see ships anchored in the test area. The footage is from post World War 2 testing.

President Sergio Osmena: You see, General, my people are going to laugh if I fell in deep water. I cannot swim.
General Douglas MacArthur: That's not so bad, Mr. President. Everyone's about to see that I can't walk on water.
