Factual error: The heroine is trying to get to come on the trip in the minisub. She is asked "Name three under-ice amphopods" The word should be "amphipods", and her answer "Gamamarus" should be "Gammarus". (00:25:30)
Continuity mistake: As we see the sub going down, the tech says "descending at 5 ft per second", and another one says "no forward motion". Cut to the sub going forward and down at considerably more than 5 ft per sec and apparently making a rumbling noise while doing it . (00:32:00)
Continuity mistake: We see the "gas analyser", and there are three red lights (must be a bad sign) but the needle is on the far left of the dial, far from the red zone. (Someone must have forgotten to switch it on...) (00:42:00)
Continuity mistake: They are sitting with their gas masks on waiting for the gas to vent. Look at the reading on the "gas analyser" the needle is way in the red zone. Then a few seconds later it reels back to under the red and the green light comes on. Kind of a sudden fall. (00:43:00)
Continuity mistake: Rick is using a rebreather, yet seems to be exhaling bubbles, looks more like SCUBA. (01:11:00)
Continuity mistake: After the sub has surfaced, we cut to the happy couple on the sail suddenly, where we have been having eye contact and salutes between Rick and the XO emerging from the aft hatch, they can now no longer see the hatch because the after part of the sail is in the way.
Continuity mistake: When the sub resurfaces, we see the sail and part of the hull protruding above the ice. Where is the gash in the ice made by this sub coming through at considerable speed? How did the wings on the sail make it through with such minor damage (the port one just looks a bit bent)?
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film, we see a whale nearby in a patch of open water (which would have been better to surface in after all), but when the shot pulls back there is no sign of any open water nearby.
