Hanover Street

Factual error: A high-ranking intelligence officer who tells his 8 or so-year old daughter what he does for a living must have been promoted a few times too many. (00:26:40)

Factual error: Before Halloran and Sellinger take off for their mission Sellinger arrives on the airfield in an American army car but which has right-hand steering. (01:02:05)

Factual error: The lid Halloran removes before the jump out of the plane is much too small. They wouldn't have made it through the opening with their parachutes strapped on. (01:05:45)

Factual error: They land with their parachutes 20 km south of Lyon. Sellinger wants to go to Lyon, and Halloran wants to make his way to the channel. Why did they walk off in opposite directions? (01:07:30)

Factual error: At the Gestapo headquarters in Lyon Halloran and Sellinger come to a room with a sign "Dokument Zimmer". German is notorious for its enormous composite words, and the sign should have been "Dokumentenzimmer" or better "Dokumentenraum". (01:18:30)

Factual error: The squadron flies B-25 bombers from a base in England, which was inaccurate - B-25s were flown from the Mediterranean and the South Pacific, but not England; mostly B-17s, B-24s and B-26s flew from England.

Factual error: All Gestapo are played by American actors who speak fairly good but by no means perfect German.

Factual error: Lots of mistakes regarding spy craft and military intelligence protocol. Sellinger would not be carrying a locket with a picture of Margaret when he is dropped into France as an SS officer. Halloran would not know the name of the spy (Wells) they were waiting for to drop into France. Wives (Margaret) would not be allowed in to offices of Intelligence HQ.

Character mistake: Before they jump off the plane Halloran should at least have checked if Sellinger has his parachute strapped on properly, knowing that the other guy has absolutely no experience. (01:05:55)
