Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, Spence is seen with Claudia in a western movie. He walks through the swinging bar doors with a cigar in his mouth. He takes a few steps forward and the size of the cigar has nearly doubled.
Continuity mistake: When Dennis's girlfriend goes to see him at the godfather's house, her car is seen parked directly in front of the house, where the godfather's car was just parked moments ago. (01:18:55)
Suggested correction: Well, yes and no, or rather "no and maybe." The godfather's car was parked far enough from the stairs for another car to park closer, between Pazzo's car and house. And it's what happens here. However I do think there could be a continuity issue with one of the exterior shots when Pazzo's car seems to have been moved quite a bit off position compared to before. The mistake could be there but not as big as it appears to be (I kinda find it hard to judge due to the angle by how much really the car is off position, even, since it's a significantly different one from before).
Continuity mistake: After Dennis punches Spence in the nose the piano starts playing and Dennis just pushes it to turn it off even though every time they had to turn it on and off before then they had to use the on/off switch. (01:01:40)
Suggested correction: I took it as a very movie-like "when you don't know how to fix/start/stop/do stuff to a machine, just hit it" moment. Thing is though, just mere seconds before in the same scene, Howie Mandel bumped against the piano, hitting harder than it does to stop it, and it kept going, so I do think that this entry has some merit.
This correction is unnecessary. It validates the original mistake at the end.
The original contribution points out something that, especially in movies, happens a lot: hit some device and it stops. Personally I don't see it as a mistake and I would have not reported it. But I do think it's inconsistent, that it stopped that second time and not the first. I could have submitted a new mistake entry but I did not find it necessary, or a request to change the entry's wording, but I think it is best to keep the original contribution and present a possible explanation and suggestion of a possible, slightly different, inconsistency in the same scene.
And none of that is needed. Explaining why a mistake happens is never a valid correction. And explaining the mistake in a different way isn't needed either (although one can change the wording of a mistake if one feels the mistake isn't clear enough).
Continuity mistake: When Spence's brother in-law goes to call Spence after his car accident with Binkey and Turnip, he only dials 3 digits the first time, then 6 the second time, then 5 the third time. (00:58:10 - 00:58:50)
Continuity mistake: The damage to the front grill of Binkey and Turnip's first caddy changes throughout the car chase with Spence and Dennis from a small hole to half the grille.
Continuity mistake: When Spence's brother in-law almost crashes into Dennis' girlfriend's car, he's driving straight down the road and she makes a left from the intersection to cut in front of him, but when the camera angle changes back to the inside of the brother in-law's car the intersection that he should have just passed is nowhere to be seen.
Continuity mistake: When Dennis and Spence are trying to outrun the cops in the car that Spence stole from the racetrack, the camera shot from the inside shows them driving on a regular street with the yellow lines and everything but the camera shots from the outside show them driving on blacktop streets with no lines whatsoever.
Continuity mistake: When the doped up Turnip runs past Binky, multiple takes have been sloppily edited together; Binky is giving Turnip a thumbs up in the first shot, then after a cutaway he is shown with his hands on the steering wheel, but taking one off to give the thumbs up, and finally he is again with both hands on the wheel. (01:22:10)
Continuity mistake: Round two of the police firing at the door of the mobster begins. After Denny's girlfriend shows up at the door, we see the police in an external view. To the left of the frame, you can see 2 officers with shotguns positioning next to the car, and two more, one with a rope on his shoulder, are arriving by the captain. In the next shot, the rope guy and his buddy are still arriving, but they are followed by cops with shotguns, which are going where there were already supposed to be in the previous shot, and missing now. (01:18:50)
Continuity mistake: Dennis has just argued with the manager about the fuzzy slippers at work. He is skating off to deal with the last delivery. When there's a cut, notice how there's a man with a white jumper leaning against the white Cadillac, facing the guy with the red jacket. That man in white was not there before. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: Dennis followed by Spence is walking out of the bathroom with a handful (soon mouthful) of soap. Camera outside, and to walk out of the bathroom behind them, a guy with a blue jacket who was nowhere near the door, and not one of the two people who were instead seen headed towards the door. (00:21:45)
Continuity mistake: An enraged mafia boss throws the billiard ball to Turnip, who ducks it. The ball after the impact with the door bounces off with a downward trajectory at sharp angle, and yet the next slapstick gag sees Binky, standing a few meters away, hit in the forehead by it. (00:34:20)
Continuity mistake: Binky is driving and talking to the boss via car phone as he chases Spence. When the horse ridden by Turnip is approaching, Binky is holding the steering wheel at the bottom. Brief cut to Turnip crying, and Binky is driving with the right hand at 3 o'clock. (00:08:55)
Continuity mistake: When Ted Danson releases the cargo from the truck, in the POV shots we see a police car going straight ahead and being hit directly the barrels, but in the reverse shot the cars are turning before taking the full hit and are more distant before it happens. (01:21:45)
Continuity mistake: The police are in front of Turnip and Binky's place (they live together, apparently); the detective leaning over the car trunk has his head lit by intense direct sunlight in the wide shot, but there's no such difference in lighting in the following view. (01:05:00)
Continuity mistake: The two gangsters enter Spence's bedroom when Claudia just went to the bathroom. He throws the sheets over his own head. When the camera is back on him after the cut on the stooges, the sheet is draped differently over his arms and shoulders. (01:00:25)
Continuity mistake: In the car chase starting from the racetrack, the protagonists take a sharp right turn, which will make the bad guys crash into a toy stall. During this turn, different cars appear in the middle of the crossroads between shots. (00:27:45)
Continuity mistake: Spence convinced Dennis to act as decoy as he places the bet. Dennis puts the money in Spence's hands, who is holding a wallet in his left hand. Cut, and now Ted Danson is holding just a wallet, and in his right hand. (00:21:30)
Continuity mistake: When Paul Sorvino is doing an odd re-enactment of Cinderella with Howie Mandel, the door of the Pazzo mansion is more damaged, with more bullet holes in it, than it was just before the police halted their fire. (01:17:40)
Continuity mistake: After the climactic car crash, the ladies rush to the car driven by the butler; Jennifer Edwards reaches the car a first time and is about to mount on it, but in the following view she is still running to it. (01:22:35)
