Continuity mistake: When Hallam goes after the two deer hunters he throws a knife into a small tree. When Bonham looks at the hole later it's much too wide, as if the wood had been carved out. (00:14:00 - 00:25:30)
Continuity mistake: When Bonham steps into Hallam's trap and goes down the cliff doing a bungee jump there are huge trees right next to the trap. Seen from below there are no trees. (01:17:20)
Other mistake: When Bonham starts his search for Hallam in the forest we see him crawling along with his face and shirt nice and clean. From one shot to the next his face is covered with movie dirt, and his shirt looks as if he hadn't changed it in at least a year. Fresh dirt looks different. (00:27:25)
Continuity mistake: During the first fight between Bonham and Hallam the dirt on both their faces keeps changing and is almost gone by the time the fight is over. (00:29:00)
Visible crew/equipment: When Bonham searches Hallam's girlfriend's house there is a cat on a bed that is visibly held down by a string before it's allowed to hide. (00:54:00)
Revealing mistake: Towards the beginning of the movie, there are several shots of winter wilderness, one with a soaring eagle. If you look closely, you see that this particular eagle has tethers hanging off of its feet. This was not a bird found in nature. This was a trained bird brought in for this shot.
Audio problem: During the first fight between Bonham and Hallam you see from their faces that the moaning has been dubbed in later. (00:30:40)
Continuity mistake: When Bonham follows Hallam through downtown Portland, shortly before Hallam hides behind the Budget truck, Bonham overtakes a blond lady in a rather unbecoming black-and-white sweater twice. (01:03:50)
Continuity mistake: When Bonham finds Hallam in his girlfriend's house the right shutter of the window is higher. When Hallam dives through the window the right shutter is lower. (00:56:20)
Continuity mistake: Hallam hops from the roof of the train on to the steel construction of the bridge. He is seen climbing up a curved, flat beam, but when the camera angle changes he is running up stairs with a railing. In a later areal shot the curved beam isn't there. (01:09:45)
Other mistake: When Bonham climbs on the train we see in the back that the bridge has a ramp, which can be passed by cars but not by a train. (The fact that it's the wrong bridge has been mentioned already, but the ramp reveals this even to non-Portlanders.) (01:08:20)
Continuity mistake: When Abby Durrell interrogates Hallam the position of the water glasses on the table changes from one shot to the next. (00:32:50)
Plot hole: In one of the scenes where Jones and Del Toro are fighting hand to hand, Del Toro's knife is knocked into the bushes. They continue to fight until a point where Del Toro has gained the upper hand. Del Toro is on top of Jones, who is almost unconscious. Instead of finishing Jones off, Del Toro looks around for his knife. This doesn't make sense. Del Toro is a trained killer. He doesn't need a knife to kill Jones.
Plot hole: Near the start of the film Tommy Lee Jones tracks a wounded wolf through the woods and removes a snare from its leg. The problem with this is there is no way he could have just walked up to a wild animal start touching it without it attacking. Plus this is a wounded animal which as anyone who deals with animals can tell you makes them twice as dangerous.
Suggested correction: There are numerous real-world stories of people interacting with wounded wild animals without being attacked, so it's not a mistake for the movie to portray that happening here. Even if it were impossible, it would not by definition be a plot hole but a "factual error."
Continuity mistake: When the truck crashes after the tunnel the lanes are separated by two continuous markings. When we see the truck again during the TV coverage there are no markings, and there is a parking area next to the road that hadn't been there before. (00:42:50 - 00:47:45)
Continuity mistake: When Bonham searches Hallam's cave hideout and finds the bible, all of a sudden smoke is coming out from under some rubble. (00:27:55)
Other mistake: During the scene where Aaron Hallam is talking to Loretta about the squirrel's tracks, he says the tracks are 9 inches apart. But if you watch his hands as he demonstrates, you'll notice they are only moving about 3 - 6 inches, not anywhere near 9. (00:51:30)
Other mistake: On the final hunt, both Bonham and Hallam sit down and produce knives in a very diligent manner, Bonham from a flintstone, and Hallam from a piece of scrap metal in a complete forging procedure. Given the time pressure both opponents are under, this display of stone- resp. iron-age skills (a.k.a. survival skills) is a bit absurd and almost touching. (01:13:50)
Continuity mistake: When Hallam hides behind a Budget truck Bonham loses him for a moment. He stands there looking around, and while he does that he gets transferred from a completely built-up area to a park where he can spot tracks in the lawn (somehow identifiable as Hallam's). (01:04:15)
Revealing mistake: In the beginning, when Tommy Lee Jones enters the cabin, the snow on his shoulders doesn't melt. This could happen if it was really cold inside, but you can't see anyone breath out... (00:17:40)
