Continuity mistake: When Furious is showing Tre and Ricky the billboard in Compton, there's a flat stick lying on the ground by their feet. In the shot with Furious alone, the stick lies half in / half out of the streetlamp's shadow. In the shot with all three actors, the stick lies completely outside of the lamp's shadow. (01:04:00)
Continuity mistake: While standing next to Dough Boy's car at the Crenshaw hangout, Ricky's holding the Doritos bag with the back of the bag to his thumb. When Ferris slams his shoulder into Ricky and spins him around, the front of the bag is to his thumb. It flips back again in Ricky's reaction shot. (01:09:55)
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the film where Ricky gets shot, the shotgun used is double-barreled, yet both bullets come out the same side of the gun. (01:28:25)
Visible crew/equipment: When Ricky is shot through the chest, the blood pack is visible bulging through his shirt. (01:28:30)
Continuity mistake: In the last shoot out scene at the burger stand, the main guy in the crew is shown wearing a jacket when he is eating french fries. When he is running away, his jacket is gone. (01:41:15 - 01:43:30)
Suggested correction: The guy eating the fries has a gray shirt on from the time they arrive at the restaurant 'til he is shot.
Factual error: In the scene where Trey's father shoots at the burglar the gun punches baseball sized holes in the door. A .357 Magnum bullet going through a thin wooden door would just punch through, without expanding or tumbling, and leave a hole only a bit larger than the bullet diameter.
Continuity mistake: Right after Ricky is gunned down, Cuba Gooding Jr. is covered in blood. In a following scene when he gets out of Doughboy's car, he doesn't have as much blood on his jeans, yet he never changed his clothes or cleaned them.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Lawerence Fishburne is awaiting the Police on his doorstep he lights a cigarette and proceeds to smoke it. A few seconds later it can be seen that the cigarette has not been lit.
Continuity mistake: Right after Trey, Doughboy, Ricky, and Lil Chris have the football taken from them, they are walking away from the older guys. The guy who yells at his friend to give the kids the ball back, finally gets the ball and throws it back to Ricky. You will notice that when he throws the ball, he throws it as if Ricky was standing right in front of him (meaning with little or no effort), but as they cut to the scene where Ricky catches the ball, he is much, much further away, and the ball should never have reached him, yet it reaches him on a fly.
Factual error: When Furious goes to the open land with Ricky and Tre to give his speech about his job, it's mentioned about that location they're at being in Compton. They are at the bottom of a hill (due to the slanted street angle). There are no hills in Compton. Also a 27th St. Sign is visible. There's no 27th St. In Compton either.
Continuity mistake: When Doughboy is confronting the final gunned down gang member after avenging Ricky's death, we see him shoot the guy 2-3 times, the shot showing him holding the gun shows no blood on his face, a close up of his face in the next shot shows blood splatters on his face and shirt not seen in previous shots.
Continuity mistake: When Trey is taking Ricky to football practice in his car, Ricky walks up to the car and Trey's window is rolled down. Then when the camera shows Trey while the both of them are talking in the car, the window is rolled up. Then the window is down again when they drive away. It's hard to tell that the window is rolled up but if you look closely, you can see Trey's reflection in it.
Revealing mistake: When Chris is playing the computer game at Doughboy's house, the gun he is using has no cord going from it into the console.
Deliberate mistake: When Laurence Fishburne goes to Reva's car when she delivers Tre, Lawrence's face can be seen in the inside rear-view mirror as he kneels down on the passenger side.
Revealing mistake: When the bullies return and scatter the crowd with gunshots, there's a young man in white on the right of the screen. He remains on the sidewalk and appears to be in another world.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene after Ricky is killed, Tre is leaving Ricky's house, his girlfriend asks him what happened, Tre's dad pulls up.He is trying to calm down the girlfriend. When he does this, look at the lower left side of the front widow. You can see the boom mic on the window.
Continuity mistake: During the final scene where Doughboy is sitting on the front porch with Tre and talking, you can see most of the porch is in shade. When Sherryl walks onto the front lawn and starts talking to them, the sun is now shining brightly on her and on the front porch. This happens throughout the scene. All the wide shots of them on the porch, they have the sun shining brightly while all the close up shots of them talking are in the shade.
Visible crew/equipment: Ricky is getting inside the car with Tre and they are having a conversation about being a virgin. When you see Tre there is a reflection of a camera mounted on Ricky's side of the window.
Factual error: The police cruiser pulling up to Furious' house in 1984 is a 1986 Chevy Caprice.
