Continuity mistake: When Matrix's house is being destroyed, the leaves next to the soldier's head on the floor increase/decrease depending on the angle. (00:12:10)
Continuity mistake: When Matrix is home covering his daughter, the soldier's thumb next to him is bloody in the close-up angle, but clean in the wide angle. (00:12:20)
Revealing mistake: In the beginning of the movie when Matrix goes to get his rifle from the shed, he uses a combination on the keypad to unlock the door but the door was already half opened. (00:12:25)
Continuity mistake: As we see Matrix enter his gun shed, he picks up a pistol and tucks it into his pants. He then runs back to the house and kills the guy in the chair. As he leaves the house, the gun is now tucked into his belt. (00:12:25 - 00:13:25)
Continuity mistake: At home, Matrix enters the shack and presses button 1. In the immediate close-up, his finger is missing the button. (00:12:55)
Other mistake: Matrix enters his house through a door on the penthouse and a dead soldier by the edge collapses. His feet and legs should be blocking the door and the entrance, but instead, from the angle inside, it swings freely. (00:13:20)
Continuity mistake: Matrix enters his home and a baddie holds a paper heart. The position of his hand differs between shots, notice the fingers on the second "D" and later on on the yellow paper. (00:13:30)
Continuity mistake: In the beginning when Arnie starts pushing his truck it is a 1973 Chevy blazer that has a very distinct raised plastic grille that was only used on that year, but before the first jump it changes to a 1974 blazer which has a thin aluminum grille, and also has damage to the front left quarter. (00:13:40 - 00:14:25)
Revealing mistake: During the scene where Matrix is attempting to push his truck down the hill, pay close attention to the shot where the truck starts rolling and Matrix jumps into the cab - the cable controlling the truck is visible to the right of the rear tire. (00:14:10)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie when Matrix is driving his truck down the mountains after the bad-guys, there are two mistakes. The first is that just before Matrix's truck crashes, the two cars he's chasing (the car and the van) are very close to one another, and Matrix drives right between the two cars without hitting either of them. This is because after you see the shot of the two vehicles close to one another, the next shot you see the van that was following the car is way behind and totally misses Matrix's truck. The next mistake is just before Matrix's truck falls off the little cliff, you see many trees in front of him (where the cliff was supposed to be), however, once the truck actually falls off, the cliff is there with no trees around it. (00:15:00)
Revealing mistake: As Matrix's truck crashes at the bottom of the hill, you can see smoke coming out the tail pipe even though the truck is supposed to have been electrically sabotaged. (00:15:05)
Continuity mistake: After Jenny is abducted and Matrix chases the bad guys, the windshield in his car swaps between very dirty and dusty in the wide angles to spotless in the close-ups. (00:15:10)
Continuity mistake: Near the start of the film, Matrix's van tumbles down a hill and lands on its side. In the next shot, the van is on its top. (00:15:15)
Continuity mistake: When Matrix is laying on the table, and the bad guys are telling him the plan, a chain around his chest keeps appearing and disappearing depending on the angle. (00:17:20)
Continuity mistake: When they arrive at the airport, Matrix closes the door of the car, and the window is almost closed. But, in the next shot, when Bennett says that he'll be ready, he is looking through a completely open window. (00:19:10)
Continuity mistake: After killing Henriques on the plane, Matrix asks the flight attendant how long the flight to Val Verdes is. When he asks her the question, her hand is on the curtain separating first class from economy, but in the next shot her arm is by her side when she answer's Matrix's question. (00:21:20)
Continuity mistake: When Matrix boards the plane towards the beginning of the film, it is early evening - the sun is shown to be low in the sky, casting long shadows. Once he has escaped from the plane and is making his way back across the runways into the airport building, the shadows are smaller and more intense, showing the sun is more directly overhead - therefore it has suddenly become much earlier in the day. (00:21:50 - 00:24:15)
Factual error: If the access hatch to the nose wheel well on an airliner was opened at any time during the flight, every alarm panel in the cockpit would light up like a Christmas tree. In this case happening within seconds of takeoff the pilot would immediately declare an emergency, turn around and land at the airport he had just left. (00:22:10)
Factual error: A DC 10-10 (the Western plane that Matrix is forced to board) has a fully-loaded maximum range of 3,800 miles, but an 11 hour flight into South America would be closer to 6,000 miles. Even if the plane flew empty, it would barely be able to cover that distance, and many passengers and pallets of cargo are seen on board. (00:22:10)
Other mistake: When Arnie enters the plane's cargo hold at the start of the film, he is confronted with a black dog in a cage barking at him. As he slides past the dog it seems to pay no attention to Arnie, but seems to be more interested in barking at someone else who is out of shot. Trainer perhaps? (00:22:30)
Answer: Possibly so any surviving enemies they encountered on previous missions and or tours of duty couldn't hunt them down and kill them for revenge.
