Other mistake: This happens after the scene when Gary Busey and the woman he is helping have a chat on his boat. They walk out on the boardwalk and Gary Busey tries a flamboyant maneuver where he jumps over the railing. If you slow-mo the film or go scene-by-scene you'll find that right after he lands and before the scene cuts Gary Busey yells out in pain. Looking further into the picture, you'll see Gary Busey's legs are almost horizontal before he lands, making for a very painful impact.
Character mistake: Near the end, as the crooks speed away in the boat from San Diego towards the back side of Catalina, Harry tells one crook to steer a course of 120. 120 is ESE. You cannot sail ESE from San Diego. Catalina is a course of about 300, which is WNW.
