Coming to America

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the robber tries to rob the restaurant you can see out the windows. This scene was shot in two places. 1. Highland and Hollywood Blvd. before they knocked down the Burger King there, and re-did Highland Avenue. When the men go outside, it's really Queens Blvd, and it's snowing, but the scenes in the restaurant are sunny and bright outside. Same when you see them walking down the street to the restaurant, it's snowing and cold, but when they get inside, the weather outside is CA weather.

Question: When Akeem tells the taxi to halt at the airport, there's something red on the hood. What is it? It looks like something to mount a camera on that was left on, but I'm not sure. Is it something taxi/NYC related?

Bishop73

Answer: That is the taxicab medallion, a license that allows the yellow cab to operate. All NYC yellow taxicabs must have one of these metal plates (there are different types) affixed to the hood of their NYC yellow taxi. This particular type is the red Big Apple medallion.
