Rosemary's Baby

Continuity mistake: Minnie and Roman have Rosemary and Guy over to their apartment and Roman serves drinks to them as they sit on the couch. We can see the bottom of the silver platter that he uses to serve the drinks and it's totally dry, but in the next shot vodka blush is dripping from it onto Minnie's carpet. (00:25:10)

????

Continuity mistake: The building manager is looking forward with his hands at his sides as the operator closes the elevator door. In the next shot the manager has his left hand raised and is leaning against the side of the elevator facing the other way. (00:02:50)

????

Continuity mistake: In Dr. Hill's examining room Dr. Sapirstein reaches down and picks up Rosemary's bottle of pills from the white chair and we get a good close-up of his watch which reads 6:30. We know this can't be right because Dr. Hill and Rosemary met after 8:00. (01:52:20)

????

Continuity mistake: Rosemary believes that her baby is still alive and when Laura-Louise takes back the tray from her, Rosemary puts a dirty spoon into the glass of breast milk to see her reaction. In the next shot Laura-Louise holds up the spoon but there's nothing on it. (02:04:35)

????

Continuity mistake: The building manager says, "That's odd there's a closet behind that secretary". The lamp with the three lights that was in front of it when he opened the door of the apartment at the beginning of the scene, is not there now. (00:05:25)

????

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Rosemary is having blood drawn to see if she's pregnant, the nurse is inserting a needle into Rosemary's arm. The arm appears fake as it is noticably larger than Rosemary's other arm, and the angle of the shoulder is off. (00:52:10)

Continuity mistake: At dinner Minnie passes Guy a piece of cake on a plate. We see the cake when she cuts it and there's only white icing on top, but when Guy starts eating it there are now strawberries on top. (00:27:00)

????

Continuity mistake: Rosemary goes to the kitchen and gets a knife and proceeds back to the closet that connects her apartment with the Castevet's. When she left the closet before getting the knife the shelves were stacked against the doorframe, but now as she returns the shelves are neatly stacked against the far wall. (02:05:25 - 02:07:35)

????

Continuity mistake: After she figures out the anagram using her Scrabble game Rosemary unlocks the front door and lets Guy in. They both walk into the kitchen and the book "All Of Them Witches" is sitting on the kitchen table. They walk out of the kitchen only to return later and the book has spun around and is opened to a different page on the table (just about everything else on the table with the chairs included have also moved). (01:30:55)

????

Continuity mistake: At dinner Minnie passes Rosemary a piece of cake and the water in Rosemary's glass goes from half full to three quarters full between shots. (00:27:05)

????

Visible crew/equipment: At the end of the movie, Minnie gives Rosemary a cup of Lipton's tea as she sits in a chair in front of a book case and we see the camera shadow on the lamp on Rosemary's left. (02:13:20)

????

Deliberate mistake: Rosemary believes that her baby is alive and proceeds to the closet that connects her apartment with the Castevet's and it takes well over a minute, and a bit of noise for her to undo the shelves. Dr. Sapirstein and Guy would have had to do the exact same thing when they broke into the apartment in the previous scene but it took them less than thirty seconds including the time it took to get into the Castevet's apartment from the hallway. (02:05:35)

????

Continuity mistake: After Dr. Sapirstein and Guy take her out of Dr. Hill's office Rosemary gets back into the apartment and calls up Elise Dunstan and the alarm clock by their bed reads 9:30. If you look closely as she holds the phone up to her ear her wristwatch reads 6:10. (01:56:20)

????

Continuity mistake: Dr. Sapirstein comes into Dr. Hill's examining room and tells Rosemary to, "put your shoes on" as he prepares to take her out of there. When Dr. Hill left her she asked if she should get undressed and he said no, and she never took her shoes off. (01:52:20)

????

Continuity mistake: Dr. Hill gets Guy and Dr. Sapirstein to escort Rosemary out of his office and the light on the examining apparatus between the two doors has been moved to the right since they walked into the room, without anyone going near it. (01:51:55)

????

Continuity mistake: In the Castevet's apartment Roman spills the vodka blush on the floor and Minnie points at him with her left hand extended in front of her. In the next shot her hand has been lowered and is at the same level as her legs. The blue towel in her lap has also been moved to the left. (00:25:15)

????

Continuity mistake: In the basement Rosemary talks to Terry Gionoffrio who shows the good luck charm that the Castevet's had given her. At first Rosemary holds it between the thumb and first finger of her right hand, but then in the next shot her thumb has moved to the right and is no longer touching the charm. (00:14:15)

????

Factual error: One of the Cadillac limousines during the funeral scene is from 1967, but the movie is supposed to take place between 1965 and 1966.

Continuity mistake: Rosemary takes out the Scrabble game again to try to figure out what the anagram that Hutch warns her about means. "All Of Them Witches" is spelled out and she proceeds to jumble up those letters. If you look closely in the next shot she's working on an entirely different section of the floor. (01:28:35)

Trivia: The bystanders looking at the camera when Rosemary crosses the street were staring in disbelief as Mia Farrow actually wandered out into oncoming traffic! Polanski did not want to "stage" the scene, so she was literally risking her life.

Question: When Rosemary gets into the Castavets right at the end, she walks past a man, and then the man says something. She then replies "Be quiet, you're still in [some location]" What was that about...?

Hamster

Chosen answer: Roman Castavet is trying to get Rosemary's attention, and she says "Be quiet, you're in Dubrovnik, I can't hear you". That was in reference to the fact that Roman and Minnie were supposed to have gone to Majorca or Dubrovnik after she found out that Roman was supposedly dying (which was just a lie Rosemary was told so she wouldn't suspect them when her baby was taken). Roman and Minnie got in a cab and pretended to go to the airport, but never left town.
