Continuity mistake: Suddenly, with no explanation, Samson is playing with his right arm in a cast and sling for the last two plays of the 1st half. Then he isn't wearing one in the locker room at halftime. He's on the sideline for all of the second half and is slinged up for most of the shots.
The Longest Yard (1974)
Ending / spoiler
Directed by: Robert Aldrich
Starring: Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, Ed Lauter, Michael Conrad
Caretaker is murdered by Unger. The convicts go to the game wearing the jerseys Caretaker got for them, naming themselves the "Mean Machine". After building an early lead, Warden Hazen tells Crewe if he doesn't lose the game he will charge Crewe with the murder of Caretaker, using Unger to finger Crewe as an accessory. Crewe reluctantly agrees, provided that Hazen calls off the attack once the guards are two touchdowns ahead. Crewe holds up his end of the deal, but Hazen does not, instructing the guards to become more brutal once they have the lead. Upon seeing this, Crewe engineers a dramatic comeback, winning the game on a run into the end zone as time expires. Crewe wins Knauer's respect. Hazen tries to get Knauer to shoot Crewe as an escapee, but Knauer delays long enough to reveal that Crewe was simply collecting the game ball for Hazen.

Paul Crewe: Three points.
Bogdanski: Three points?
Paul Crewe: Three points.
Bogdanski: For that? Bullshit.
Trivia: When the film was released Burt Reynolds arranged to have this film shown in maximum security prisons all over the US, because the prisoners obviously couldn't get to the theaters to see it themselves.
