Continuity mistake: When Fred is eating with Wilma and Betty in the Cavern on the Green, the bottle in the bucket alternates from being straight or upside down. It even disappears in some shots.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when there is a meeting in Slate & Co., the model of the modern quarry is facing towards the chairman's chair. But in the next scene, when Fred is alone there and Sharon Stone enters the room, the model of the modern quarry is turned around, facing the other side.
Continuity mistake: When Barney and Fred are going to be hanged by the neck, the rope of Barney alternates from loose to tight.
Continuity mistake: After Fred and Wilma have the fight with Barney and Betty, Wilma starts destroying things in the house. Notice when she is throwing the cups on to the floor. They are orange on the shelf, yet when she throws them on the floor, they turn green.
Answer: When Fred received said promotion, the first order of business Vandercave gave him was to fire Barney. Since Barney would thus have no source of income, the order comes into conflict with his loyalty to his friend; his guilt makes him feel that the gift is something Barney can't afford and which he, Fred, doesn't deserve.
