Continuity mistake: When Tommy jumps off the building and missile kicks the ooze man repeatedly, he jumps completely vertically, no forward motion at all. Camera does an instant cut and now he is almost horizontal and flying down to kick the ooze man. (00:24:50)

Continuity mistake: When Ivan enters the command centre we see him ooze through the door. However when we next see the door, the ooze that is left on the door is in places where there was no ooze before. Most noticeable is the gold surround on the left hand side of the screen. (00:20:45)

Visible crew/equipment: Just as the rangers run off from the construction site after losing power, the camera goes in for a close up on the ooze. When it does you can make out the camera shadow in the bottom left of the screen. (00:27:50)

Revealing mistake: When the Rangers de-morph we see them looking at their hands and bodies. However, when the actual suit disappears, their hands, arm and even heads are in different places. This is really noticeable with Billy. His suited hand and unsuited hand, while the same hand, are about a foot apart. (00:27:20)

Revealing mistake: Just as Tommy throws his knife pay close attention to the upper left of the screen. You see a very quick glint from the wire used to support the knife in the shots of it flying on it's own. Slo-Mo may help but is not essential to spot this mistake. (00:26:45)

Continuity mistake: Just as Tommy asks for some light near the start, the positions the Rangers are in changes instantly. Most noticeable is Yellow Ranger. Her arms go from forming an X to out in front of her. (00:21:40)

Continuity mistake: When the crane lifts the steel slab up there is a blue tape wrapped around one of the green strands lifting the slab. Camera cuts and the blue tape disappears. (00:08:10)

Answer: There's never a "point" to including a weakspot, by definition they are a flaw in the design that is either unforeseen or unavoidable. Maybe they could not find a way round it when building the robot, or any solutions simply created other weakspots.
