Continuity mistake: In the scene where Calvin is coming through a door and 3 basketball players from the Knights team approach him, Derek asks him for an autograph. In the side shot while walking through the door, and the shot from behind, it's not Calvin. (00:43:30)
Factual error: When Calvin and Co. are tying up Bittleman so they can get Calvin's shoes back, it shows highlights from the game that's being played at that very moment between Toronto and the Knights. It shows some highlights from Vince Carter, but one of these highlights was not from the game at all. It's his windmill dunk from the actual NBA 2003 dunk comp. There are no other players on the court, only camera crew. (01:14:15)
Continuity mistake: When Calvin is meeting the team for the first time in the locker room his braids change. You can see his hair from behind and it shows his braids tied together. Then it shows a wide shot from inside the locker room and his braids are untied and hanging loose. Then it goes in for a close up and his braids are tied again. (02:06:45)
Continuity mistake: When Ox throws MJ's shoes onto the wire, there is no tree beneath the wire where the shoes fall, but when Calvin climbs onto the tree, there is clearly a branch underneath the shoes.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, Bow Wow has braces on his teeth. Later into the movie, the braces are gone. Later still, the braces return.
Continuity mistake: After the Knights had won a game, red, white, and dark blue balloons fall onto the court. Later, when Calvin is alone on the court, the balloons' colors have changed into orange, yellow, and light blue.
Continuity mistake: In Calvin's very first game with the Knights, when he first starts playing, the style of his braids keep changing, during almost every shot of him on the court, playing that game.
Continuity mistake: When Calvin is going down to the court after his number is called Tracy Renolds has his jacket unbuttoned. Then when Tracy gets mad because Calvin scored 2 points on him his jacket is buttoned up.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Calvin gets the shoes and tries them on, Ox comes over and takes them from him. But the shoe Calvin had put on he never took back off. How did Ox pull them off Calvin's feet?
Revealing mistake: When Calvin falls out of the tree, he lands on the ground on his back. This would at least knock the breath out of him, but he is not hurt at all.
Revealing mistake: When the L.A. Knights play, the exterior shots show The Staples Center, but the interiors of the basketball arena were shot in the Great Western Forum, except for the locker room which was a stage at an LA studio, and still some other shots were taped at the All Star game, in Philadelphia.
Factual error: When Calvin is watching the Knights play at the Staples Center when he is working the parking lot, the Knights are playing the Toronto Raptors, who play in a different confrence, later in the movie the Knights play the Raptors in the Staples Center again. NBA teams play teams from another confrence once on the road, and once at home.
Audio problem: In the scene in the foster home playground where Tracy Reynolds tells Calvin that he is going to adopt him, Calvin has tears (or sweat) running down his face, then the tears are gone and then they return again. However, at no time during or after the adoption conversation (or anywhere in the film for that matter) does Calvin shed any tears. They are likely from an earlier scene that was deleted.
Continuity mistake: When Calvin is playing for the first time at the Staples Center and they are all gathered up making a plan, Calvin states his plan and then looks down at his feet. Notice how his shoes are red and the other players' are different colors.
Revealing mistake: When the three kids are sitting on the merry-go-round in the orphanage playground, look at the bars when the shot changes from Calvin to Murph. From the markings, you can see that they are the exact same bars, meaning that they decided to have the actors switch sections rather than the camera.
Plot hole: Michael Jordan is from North Carolina. If those were really his shoes, how did they make their way to L.A?
Factual error: Michael Jordan didn't play in Nikes until he got to the NBA. He wore Converse at North Carolina plus his shoes would have been way too big by then.
Revealing mistake: After Calvin steals the Ball from Vince Carter, you can notice a stunt double playing for Vince.
Answer: "Party Up" (by DMX)
