Geppetto carves a puppet out of wood and names it Pinocchio. That night, Geppetto wishes upon a star that Pinocchio would become a real boy. To his surprise, the Blue Fairy visits the workshop and brings Pinocchio to life, but tells him he will have to prove himself worthy of becoming a real boy.
Pinocchio is visited by Jiminy Cricket, who is assigned by the Blue Fairy to be his conscience. Jiminy tries to guide Pinocchio on the right path but struggles to keep him out of trouble. Pinocchio's first day at school is interrupted by Honest John, a conniving fox, and his sidekick, Gideon, who convince Pinocchio that he should join Stromboli's puppet show. Despite Jiminy's warnings, Pinocchio goes against his better judgment and ends up getting trapped in Stromboli's cage, where he is forced to perform.
In a stroke of luck, the Blue Fairy comes to Pinocchio's aid, allowing him to escape. However, she warns him that she may not be able to help him again if he continues to make bad choices. When Pinocchio returns home, he finds Geppetto missing and learns that he ventured out to search for him. Determined to rescue his creator, Pinocchio sets off on a journey with Jiminy Cricket.
On their way, they encounter Pleasure Island, an amusement park where naughty boys are allowed to misbehave without consequences. Pinocchio and his new friend Lampwick indulge in dangerous and reckless activities, only to discover that the boys are transformed into donkeys and sold into slavery. Jiminy and Pinocchio narrowly escape before they suffer the same fate.
Desperate to find Geppetto, Pinocchio is directed to the treacherous depths of the ocean, where they find Monstro, a gigantic whale. Inside Monstro's belly, they discover Geppetto, along with other trapped sea creatures. Pinocchio devises a plan to escape, using a raft to lead everyone to safety. However, they are pursued by Monstro, who destroys their raft. In a selfless act, Pinocchio pushes Geppetto and his friends to safety but gets swallowed by Monstro.
Pinocchio's bravery and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. He is granted a second chance by the Blue Fairy, who transforms him into a real boy as a reward for his courageous deeds. Geppetto, Jiminy, and Pinocchio wake up in their own bed, back in their cozy workshop, where they are reunited and embrace with joy.
The Blue Fairy: Prove yourself brave, truthful, and unselfish, and someday, you will be a real boy.
Trivia: The film was a major commercial failure because it was released during the Second World War and very few people were going to the cinema.
Question: When Pinocchio finds Geppetto inside Monstro's stomach, Geppetto has shoes and socks on. But when Pinocchio and Geppetto are escaping on the raft, he is barefoot. Where did his shoes and socks go?
