Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Eddie Murphy's character is trying out for the cop show. While arguing with the man trying out as chief, Eddie Murphy slams his hands on the table. When he does this, and throughout the scene, his gun holster and shoulder straps are clearly visible. But after he slams his hands down, and the camera cuts to the directors of the show and then back to Eddie, the holster is gone. The camera then cuts back to the directors and then to Eddie a second time, and the holster is back.
Visible crew/equipment: When the SUV gets blown up, in one quick shot you can see a cable pulling the car forward.
Continuity mistake: Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy visit the crime scene where the house is demolished, and Eddie Murphy is sometimes seen through the recording video camera. The counter is first at the 55 minute mark, then changes to 21 minutes in the second shot, then 23 minutes less than a minute later, and finally the 26 minute mark approximately a minute later.
Continuity mistake: When Eddie Murphy is interviewing the guy in jail, the time code on the camera screen moves faster than time itself. When only a few seconds go by in the interview, the time code jumps by as much as two minutes. This happens throughout the entire interview.
Continuity mistake: When the Corvette is chasing the garbage truck, the top is on and then seconds later the top is gone.
Continuity mistake: In the chase scene between Robert DeNiro (in the police cruiser) and the garbage truck, the windshield switches back and forth from being completely shot out to having a couple of holes in it, then being perfectly intact. Toward the end of the sequence it settles on having holes, since DeNiro has to kick it out in order to escape from the cruiser.
Continuity mistake: When Robert De Niro's character shoots the news camera, the camera is pointing away from him. When Rene Russo shows the footage of the shooting to Brad, the owner of Maxis, the camera is pointing directly at De Niro. (00:12:00 - 00:13:15)
Continuity mistake: When the producers try to give Robert DeNiro the retired drug sniffing police dog, the dog is sniffing around in white powder in a potted plant, which leaves white stuff all over his snout. When Eddie Murphy tries to pet "Powder", we see the dog growl and snap at him with no trace of anything on his face. The next time we see him, the powder is back on his snout.
Continuity mistake: When Eddie Murphy is driving his corvette into the garage we can see the licence plate 2IAB345, but when he parks the car you see the plate read ICETREY.
Continuity mistake: When Robert De Niro is eating the hamburger in the restaurant the lettuce keeps changing positions from showing a lot, a little or not at all.
Continuity mistake: During the scene with Rene Russo and Robert De Niro in the cafe near the beginning, when the shot changes from side to front, De Niro's hands change position on the hamburger - sometimes there are 2 hands on it, other times just one.
Other mistake: When William Shatner demonstrates how to jump on the hood of a car, and slides off, he makes a big dent, but when the camera angle switches, the dent's no longer there.
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Eddie Murphy is at Robert De Niro's house trying to be "friends" he has a bag of Chinese food. The receipt is stapled to one side of the bag and the menu is on the other. They keep switching places each shot.
Visible crew/equipment: When Trey is driving down the alleyway after the truck, an inside shot is shown and visible in the window onside of the police car you can see at least 2 reflector screens the camera and the truck towing the car.
Continuity mistake: After they shoot the pool and the water starts to fall, it does not stop falling.
Continuity mistake: When Robert De Niro is eating his hamburger, one shot he's holding a napkin in one hand, next shot he has both hands on the hamburger. This goes on all during that scene.
Visible crew/equipment: At the end when Mitch is getting dragged down on the floor about to go over the edge and Trey grabs him, the stuntman is visible.
Continuity mistake: At the end when Eddie Murphy and Robert De Niro are sliding to the open wall they fall off the edge and can't be seen. When we do see them, their hands (which are cuffed) are above the floor and should have been visible earlier.
Factual error: During the Weapon show Eddie Murphy is shot at by the bad guy with a big gun. He hides behind a pile of sand bags. At the end of the movie the same guy shoots into the ceiling, with the same gun, and we can see that the bullets go through the ceiling making huge holes. How is it possible that the bullets go through a ceiling made of concrete, but not through a row of sand bags?
Factual error: At the scene at the top floor of the apartment building, the roof gets shot about 5 times. There is a pool overhead. But the water takes about 45 seconds to start falling.
