Factual error: In a short scene, Sissy Spacek is seen walking down the sidewalk with a 16 ounce cardboard cup of coffee with a cardboard cup holder. The film is set in the mid 1980s, well before regular people walked around with coffee shop coffee in a cardboard cup.
Factual error: There is giant Altoids display at the grocery store counter in the scene where Sissy Spacek sees William Mapother. The film is set in the mid 1980s - Altoids' massive marketing campaigns are a more recent event.
Continuity mistake: At the dinner table, after catching Nick Stahl and Morisa Tomei upstairs, Tom Wilkinson prepares a meal for the 3 of them. Marisa is seen putting food in her mouth, but when the next shot cuts to the front of her, she's now having a drink.
Richard: Where are the boys?
Natalie: ...It's none of your business.
Richard: Oh, I see. They're my boys, but they're none of my business.
