Behind Enemy Lines
Behind Enemy Lines mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After takeoff is aborted, the crew leaves their aircraft on the catapult, still facing the bow of the ship. When Owen Wilson grabs the football and runs to the bow of the ship, in the background there is no aircraft lined up on the catapult. (00:04:30)

Continuity mistake: While speaking with the Admiral, Burnet's collar is turned up at the back of his neck. When he leaves and is talking to Stackhouse it's lowered and neat. When Stackhouse turns him round to speak to him, it's raised again. (00:11:40)

Continuity mistake: In the launch scene of the recon mission, one camera shot is centered on the aircraft's lower fuselage as it is moving on the catapult towards and to the right of the camera. If you look closely, you will notice that there are rounded intakes on the aircraft. Those intakes are only on the regular Hornet (F/A-18A-D). The Super Hornet (F/A-18E/F) has rectangular intakes like the Tomcat. (00:14:50)

Continuity mistake: Right after Stackhouse and Brunett has been spotted flying by the serbian soldiers and the soldier enters Lokar's office, we see Lokar resting his head in his hand while holding a cigarette. When it cuts he is no longer resting his head but he takes a lung full up smoke instead. (00:17:45)

Continuity mistake: The SAM that's used to shot down the F-18 is a BRDM-2 mounted 9K31 Strela-1 which uses either 9M31 or 9M31M IR missiles. The missiles seen flying after the F-18 aren't either of those models. (00:18:40)

Continuity mistake: After Stackhouse and Brunett has been shot down, we see the front part of the plane land and the inscription "Made in U.S.A" is writing on the right front of the plane. That wasn't there earlier. (00:22:10)

Continuity mistake: When Owen Wilson parachutes through the trees, his oxygen mask goes from being on, covering his face, to being off and dangling. This repeats when he drops from his tangled chute. When he initially cuts free, his mask is over his face, then when he gets up it is off. A pilot should keep his mask on and visor down after ejecting over land to prevent injuries to his face and eyes should he wind up in the trees like Wilson did. (00:24:40)

Continuity mistake: After seeing his pilot get shot, Owen Wilson's character starts running uphill while being shot at. Of course you know he's being shot at because you can see the tracers. However, after cresting the hill, and starting down the other side, you STILL see rounds going past him. How did they get smart bullets? (00:31:55)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Serbian soldiers are searching for Owen Wilson's character almost all of them following the tank in that shot are left-handed. A few minutes later it happens again. In all other scenes most every soldier is right-handed. The odd shots are flipped. (00:40:10)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Burnett falls into the graves, those watching the infrared satellite image on the carrier say that after Burnett falls, he never moves. If he doesn't move, then how did get under a body? (00:43:20)

Behind Enemy Lines mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Burnett climbs out of the mass grave, he is completely covered in mud. In the flashback at Hac however his face is almost completely clean when he emerges from the graves. (00:45:00 - 01:07:50)

Continuity mistake: Owen Wilson's character is being chased and falls into the mass grave covering himself with another body. As he crawls out he is covered in mud. In the following scenes neither he nor his uniform have a trace of mud or blood. (00:45:10)

Continuity mistake: When Chris Burnett (Owen Wilson) jumps in front of the red truck to get a ride it slides to the right while the skid marks slide to the left. (01:02:50 - 01:03:55)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Burnett stops the Pickup truck and it skids. The blond haired passenger on the truckbed is leaning on the rail and suddenly on the next shot he is leaning on the truck cab. (01:03:00)

Suggested correction: There is enough time for him to moves as we get a shot of the man with the Ice Cube hoody, his sister, then we see the man has moved to the back.

Continuity mistake: When the tank fires into the building Burnett and the other man flies through the air landing on the floor. When they are about to get up we see broken glass beside Burnett. When it cuts the glass is gone. Also when they land Burnett's head is facing the man. When it cuts they lie feet against feet. (01:08:05)

Continuity mistake: When being confronted by the resistance fighters in Hac, Burnett has a gun to his right cheek in one shot which moves to his left side by his neck between instant cuts. (01:08:10)

Factual error: If Owen Wilson is under a dead body, how could any thermal radiation leak through the cold dead body covering him so the satellite (plus the Admiral and aides) could see him the whole time? (00:54:10)

Stackhouse: We're not supposed to fly that sector, Chris. The brass will have a shit-fit.
Chris Burnett: Hey, we're on recon so let's recon something.

Question: Can anyone explain what happened to Stackhouse when he ejected? I understand that he injured his leg. How did that happen? Is it actually possible?

Answer: The two seats collided in midair before their chutes opened and Stackhouse yelled, "ow!" Not realistic because in the 5 seconds it took for the second pilot to eject they would have been far apart.

But you see his leg get injured before his leaves the jet. I think the original question refers to how did that happen.

Ssiscool

The injury to Stackhouse's leg was from a pen attached to his knee pad. When watched in slow motion, you see it disintegrate and somehow throw shrapnel into his leg. It makes little sense, I believe it was merely a plot point to make Stackhouse unable to travel out of harm's way. This prompted Burnett to leave him unattended for the bad guys to find him as he went to higher ground to get better reception on the PRC-90.

Answer: It is possible that he has done of one two things. Banged his leg on something inside the cockpit causing it to break, or landed too hard on his way down. It is common for people to break limbs when parachuting/sky diving. It is possible that his bones were just not up to withstanding the force which he incurred.

Scrappy

Or a piece of shrapnel from the jet breaking apart cut his leg.
