Other mistake: Early in the film, before they were signed to a record deal the Doors were playing small clubs around L.A. in 1966. After one of these gigs, a promoter comes up and asks Jim Morrison how old he is, in which he replies "21." Morrison was born in 1943, so the youngest he could have been is 22, not 21.
The Doors (1991)
1 other mistake
Directed by: Oliver Stone
Starring: Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan, Michael Madsen, Kyle MacLachlan, Kevin Dillon, Michael Wincott, Frank Whaley, Billy Idol
Continuity mistake: After the New Haven gig in which the captions tell us is in "1968," Jim Morrison is arrested. On his mug shot photos, the date given is "12-15-67."
Warhol PR: Andy Warhol is art. We must ask ourselves, does Andy imitate life or does life imitate Andy?
Trivia: When Kilmer is sitting in the Limo with all the screaming girls outside, he is twirling a drumstick similar to twirling the pen in Top Gun and twirling two quarters in Real Genius.
Question: Did Jim Morrison really go around falsely telling reporters that both his parents were dead? Or was that just an Oliver Stone embellishment?

Chosen answer: That is actually true. Morrison grew up in a military family and his stern parents harshly disciplined their two sons by verbally assaulting them until they broke down in tears, were utterly humiliated and admitted to wrong-doing. Morrison broke off almost all contact with his family after graduating from college.
