Continuity mistake: When Sarah, Ludo and Hoggle wait for guards to run by, she says, "Be careful. Okay," and the houses around them are visible. Later, when the six Goblins are blasted up in the air, they are in the same area, but this time there are two large planks of wood mounted on the home's stone wall to their right, under the small semi-circular window. (01:21:00 - 01:24:30)
Deliberate mistake: When the rocks invade Goblin City, one Goblin runs into his home shouting, "I've had enough. I'm going to bed," in a close-up. His distinctive home and the one beside it, are the same homes seen near the large main gate, when Sir Didymus and the crazy riders squared off earlier (and other shots). However, in the close-up, things such as the long rope mounted to the pulley above the door disappear, and yet, pottery, baskets, etc., suddenly appear. (01:21:20 - 01:24:45)
Visible crew/equipment: When the boulders start to roll into Goblin City, just after someone yells, "Good Grief" and just as the guards start to gather together, on the left of the screen a bug is seen going down a wall, then it's seen going up the wall, and the wire is visible. (01:24:30)
Visible crew/equipment: In Goblin City, six guards gather together and one says, "Steady men. Hold your ground." The huge boulder comes rumbling towards them and hits them head on. In the wide shot as they lift off the ground, the tall pipes that create the white smoke are seen beneath them. (01:24:35)
Revealing mistake: When Sarah is trying to reach Toby while in the Escher-style room, there is a scene where Jareth is walking along (underneath where Sarah is standing), he does an 180-degree flip around the edge of the platform. If you look at Jareth's shadow, you can clearly see the shadow of a support bar pushing him up. (01:24:45)
Visible crew/equipment: When Jareth throws a crystal ball across the Escher-style room, it bounces near Toby, who is sitting at the top of a flight of stairs, and Toby catches it. If you look behind Toby you can see a safety wire attached to the back of his pyjamas. (01:25:10)
Continuity mistake: When Toby catches the crystal ball Jareth throws, Toby is sitting right by the edge of the stairs, Sarah then shouts 'Toby!' then in the next shot Toby is sitting further away from the stairs. (01:25:10)
Visible crew/equipment: In Goblin City, a small boulder jumps into the mouth of a cannon just as a guard yells, "Fire!" After exploding, the guard then says, "Hey, I just fired you," as the "cannonball" hops around near the cannon yelling, "Ouch, ouch, ouch!" and the wires attached to it are visible. (01:25:30)
Continuity mistake: In Goblin City, after the boulder positions itself on the edge of the wall, it falls on top of a talking gun/cannon, smashing it to smoldering bits, and it says, "Hey, no problem," in the close-up. In the next shot, as Sarah runs up the step to shout for Sir Didymus, the smoldering cannon bits on the ground are quite different. (01:26:05)
Visible crew/equipment: Sarah runs to the edge of one of the platforms in the Escher-style room, and sees Toby. Just before she jumps, as she runs to the edge, a safety wire can briefly be seen attached behind her. (01:26:30)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah reaches Jareth's throne room, before she says, "Oh no," there is a wide shot of the room. When she says, "That's the only way he ..." things in the room have changed position. (01:26:40)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah sees Toby in the Escher-style room, she jumps of the edge of the platform. As she jumps off, she raises one leg behind her other, yet in the next shot her legs are beside one another. (01:26:45)
Audio problem: In Jareth's throne room, Sarah says, "That's the only way he could have gone," then says, "No! No!" Her lip movements do not match the words we hear. (01:26:45)
Revealing mistake: At Jareth's castle, in the room with the Escher stairs, Sarah sees Toby and she jumps. It's very apparent that it's a stuntwoman jumping from the ledge in the wide shot. (01:30:20)
Visible crew/equipment: After Sarah calls out "Toby!" in the Escher stair room, she jumps off the ledge. She then drops downward and lands amongst a variety of stone objects that drift all around her. The lines that the stone objects hang from are seen. (01:30:30)
Continuity mistake: When all of Sarah's friends from the Labyrinth fill her room, you can see that one of the Chilly's is on top of Sarah's canopy on her bed. In a wide shot the Chilly is hanging his head off of the canopy, but in the next closeup shot of him laughing his head is no longer hanging off it and is upright. (01:31:50)
Continuity mistake: When Didymus says "I say, does anyone want to play a game of scrabble" he has a staff in his right hand, and is holding it down by the side of Sarah's bed, but in the next shot he is holding the staff upright on top of Sarah's bed. (01:32:15)
Continuity mistake: When everyone from the labyrinth fills Sarah's room, Didymus says "I say, does anyone want to play a game of scrabble" and he has a party hat pulled well over his head. but in the next shot the party hat isn't pulled over his head, but is sitting on top of his hat, which allows the shot of it falling off of his head. (01:32:15)
Continuity mistake: When Sarah is finally back in her room, she sees Ludo, Sir Didymus and Hoggle in the reflection of her vanity mirror. Her white dress that lies on her bed changes position when seen on the real bed, the close-ups in the reflection and the semi close-ups in the reflection. (01:35:00)
Revealing mistake: Sarah looks at Hoggle in her vanity mirror and he says, "Well why didn't you say so?" As Sarah starts to stand up it is obvious where the two shots are edited together with her back to the camera, so that at the end of this "one" shot, Sarah's room is filled with her new friends. Her vest's back ties and blouse sleeves are different in the two shots that are edited together as one. (01:35:35)
Answer: The necklace is a symbol of Jareth's power throughout the story. All the time that Sarah is in the Labyrinth, Jareth has more power than her, because she doesn't really know what she's doing, and isn't taking one particular path, just getting lucky at the right times. At the end, as we all know, Sarah triumphs, and Jareth's necklace changes to admit his defeat.
