Continuity mistake: When Jim Henry mockingly urges the resident samaritans of the dock to 'help the kid up', said kid gets up on his own sporting a bloody lip and nose. Just in that close-up though; he steps in to keep fighting and gets whooped, but his face is clean throughout it. He only gets bloodied again when the dude begins to swing his head at him with the strangest headbutting ever. (00:21:50)

Continuity mistake: Speed goes fetch his friend Poe in the Pentecostal church, and the two walk down the road of the cemetery. Time certainly passed between takes, as shown by the shadows of the tombs, which change greatly in the length. (00:24:20)

Continuity mistake: Speed arranges on the phone Chaney's first fight in New Orleans against Mr. Pettibon's man. The people you see walking through the doors of the barbershop never carry over from one shot to the next. (00:30:00)

Sammo

Revealing mistake: Establishing shots of the party where Chaney will fight Pettibon's guy; when we see the band play and people dance, the footage is rather obviously stopped and reversed to give the impression of a longer shot (evidently they had too little usable film of the crowd dancing). (00:31:00)

Continuity mistake: Chaney and Speed and his girlfriend drive to the country festival where the fight with Pettibon's guy will take place. When they come out of the car, you can see it's exceptionally dusty. Practically covered. However, when they drive away after being effectively robbed of the fight purse, the car is clean - you can spot the contrast looking at the back of the car when they drive away; it's all grimy when the gangsters are laughing them off, and it cuts to a spotless trunk. (00:32:00 - 00:36:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Pettibon's fighter tries to cheapshot Chaney at the very beginning, but Chaney has none of it and counters. Cut to a longshot, and you can see that Gayleen who was clinging to Speed's arm is nowhere near, and Speed himself holds the coat and hat in a much different way. (00:33:55)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Pettibon angrily throws his hat seeing his man got KO'd, the reactions and positions of the people around him change noticeably between shots - look for instance at the lanky aide who walks towards the fallen fighter and how he begins to walk at different times, being in different positions. (00:35:25)

Sammo

Revealing mistake: After Pettibon strong-arms the protagonists out of the bet, Chaney makes a cryptic proposal to Speed, about driving around and seeing the sights. There's a shot of the car that not only feels 'off' because it's sped up, but also sees the stand-in for Poe and the one for Chaney have swapped position. (00:37:00)

Sammo

Factual error: To get back the money they (il)legitimately won, Chaney fights with Pettibon's men inside a bar. They brawl near a pinball machine identifiable as a modified version of "Majors - 1941" (you can see its logo distinctly), which was manufactured, obviously, in 1941. The movie is supposed to be set in 1933. (00:37:10)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Chaney beats up the gangster who attacks him in the bar brawl and sends him over the pool table - he does it twice with different timings in two separate shots. (00:37:45)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Chaney sends one of Pettibon's guys flying over the pool table, Pettibon is standing dumbfounded with a beer in hand holding it at different height between shots. Likewise, the man that is hunched to the right of the screen casts on the wall a shadow in a different position between shots. (00:37:55)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Speed and Poe crash the fancy party to set up the bet for 3 grands. James Coburn chews up a toast (and the scenery) saying he'll take Chick Gandil's odds. He chewed the toast whole, but at the next cut the toast reappears in his other hand, previously free. (00:43:35)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Gandil and his men leave the cage as Chaney and Jim Henry begin their fight. The weasely bookie grabs the cage above the thick horizontal bar in one shot, but his hand is below the bar in the next shot. (00:49:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Henry and Chaney struggle for position with Chaney's arm under the brute's chin, Robert Tessier's right hand is grabbing the cage much higher at first, then head-high. (00:51:45)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: After the cage fight, Chick Gandil gives Speed the money putting it in his right hand. Next shot and Coburn pulls back...his left hand. (00:53:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: The good guys are celebrating at a club after winning the fight with Gandil's man. Speed says "Hey, Chaney." Bronson and Jill Ireland are sitting down normally, but in the reaction shot on them, Jill Ireland suddenly has her arm on the back of the seat. (00:54:35)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Speed proposes a toast to "The Napoleon of Southern sports"; Bronson is looking at him with his shoulders straight, but the next shot shows him leaning back to the railing. (00:55:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Poe is trying to impress his rather unflappable date referencing the more famous eponymous Edgar Allan, she holds the glass of wine at different height when she sighs that she surely will hear about it, and Poe's gesticulating leaves his finger raised or lowered depending on the shot. (00:55:35)

Sammo

Speed: Well, you know Chick, like old momma said, next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing.

Trivia: By open admission of one of the original artwork designer Akira "Akiman" Yasuda, the movie (known in Japan as "The Street Fighter") inspired at least 2 of the most iconic backgrounds of the game Street Fighter 2: it is really obvious when you watch the fight between Jim Henry and "the kid", on the docks with a boat in the background much like in Ken 's stage. The cage fight against Henry inspired also Zangief's stage. (00:19:30 - 00:47:50)
