Continuity mistake: Various views of Chase's dead body were inconsistent. From the two boys' perspective, Chase's body was at the edge of the water and the sun was shining on the water and along/near his left leg. An aerial view showed a canopy of tree leaves over the area, meaning the sunshine would not be able to penetrate the thick tree cover. From the sheriff's view in the tower (unobstructed by trees), the position of Chase's body relative to the fire tower was too far away and at the wrong angle. (00:03:00 - 00:04:08)
Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
1 continuity mistake
Directed by: Olivia Newman
Starring: Harris Dickinson, Taylor John Smith, Daisy Edgar-Jones
Character mistake: The Sheriff's Department knew there was little/no evidence at the murder scene, but they did "have those red fibers found on the jacket - sweater, scarf, could be anything." After overhearing bar patrons saying the Marsh girl could be the killer, the Sheriff and a Deputy went to her house, apparently without a warrant or probable cause. They went into her screened-in porch, the Deputy saw a red wool hat through the window, said it was "in plain view" and took it. The hat was illegally seized. (00:04:50 - 00:06:45)
Trivia: Narrating in 1969, Kya said, "How birds sing mostly at dawn because the cool, moist air of morning carries their songs and their meaning much farther." This is no longer the primary view. Some scientific research found their subject sparrows' songs were louder (or just as loud) at noon than during the so-called "Morning Chorus." It appears the "Morning Chorus" might just sound louder because there are fewer other sounds at that time of the morning to drown them out (i.e, it is quieter). (00:37:15)
