Revealing mistake: Madmartigan is asked by a man if he wants "to breed" and he rejects him and turns around. Right then you'll notice that Elora's been replaced by an obvious doll. (00:48:03)
Continuity mistake: When Willow burns a troll and it transforms into a blob of raw-sticky-flesh with two heads sticking out, he kicks it and in a mere frame it becomes a brownish ball that looks like a roasted turkey.
Continuity mistake: When Elora is put on the cradle of branches in the river, two big branches in front of her swap from straight to fallen between angles.
Revealing mistake: Willow kills the walking cauldron (a stop-motion superimposed image) with a farmer's fork, but he's very obviously just mimicking and the fork is not pinching the cauldron at all.
Revealing mistake: Madmartigan kicks a baddie but his foot misses by far, despite the thump being heard. (01:31:44)
Answer: Bavmorda's ritual was the Ritual of Obliteration - a spell that is used to destroy a living spirit's essence or soul. Presuambly if she'd just killed Elora, the soul would have been later reborn into another baby.
