Revealing mistake: Throughout the film, the base station radio is not connected to an antenna. In many lengthy shots of the back of the radio we can see the power cord trailing out the back of the unit, but there is nothing plugged in to the antenna socket. This is especially annoying because base station radio problems are a key plot point.

This had all the classic elements of a great sci-fi thriller, but just didn't deliver. Remote location, something goes wrong, no communication, no help coming. Who do you trust? What is happening? We've seen it before - The THING, X-Files, and many others... and I always get a chill. BUT, in this one, even though the suspense builds and the acting is credible, the writer didn't DO anything with it. Not even leaving us with an unknown to puzzle over. Everything is explained, everything is understood. It was interesting because I was anticipating the zinger that never came. It could have been so much more.
This low-budget Canadian flick actually managed to generate a little suspense. With just a bit more effort, it might have been above average.
I saw this on Netflix and gave it a go. I liked the way the characters were trying to figure out what was picking them off one at a time. About 3/4 of the film was worth watching, but the ending will leave you thinking "Yeah, I guess that COULD happen..."
It's OK, nothing we haven't seen before though. Isolated camp, no help, killer... something... on the loose. Cast of unknowns, but acting is fine. The tired plots marches along with no surprises to a disappointing and oh so predictable conclusion.
