I saw this movie in theaters with my dad.

So lately, the last few years, me and my dad have been making it a point to try and go see the big block buster movies that are "guy films" like this in theaters together. Marvel films, Star Wars, Terminator, Predator, Rambo, and more.
So when Dark Fate was hitting theaters, we went and saw it.

I really liked this film. Of course it doesn't hold up to the first two movies but it doesn't need to.
I personally don't think there is a bad film in the franchise yet, and even like Genesys despite some flaws. I think they are over hated on and would even go as far to say that Terminator 3 is my favorite one, even if T2 is the better movie.
Honestly, I would say Salvation is my least favorite of the films, and I still like that movie a lot.

Dark Fate is no exception. It tries to take new risks with some aspects, but then again does still fall into the same tried and true formula of all the films before it, except Salvation.
The action was pretty good, the actors decent, and then Arnold and Linda Hamilton steal the show! But I felt like they were not explored to the best they could have been. Arnold was compelling and I would much have liked to have seen the development of what he went through over the years since the event at the start of the movie.

That being said, the movie is still satisfactory and I thought well done. Not near as good as some of the others, but not bad either. It's worth a watch and a great popcorn flick.

Mistake Status: Didn't catch any on my first watch, but wasn't really looking either. Will probably revisit it it some day.

The action scenes are well done, and it's nice to see Linda Hamilton returning to the franchise. Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 even has a pretty interesting off-screen character arc that honestly would have made for a more fascinating movie.

Ultimately though, this movie falls flat for recycling the same story beats as the other films in the franchise, in which a Terminator is sent back in time to kill a human that will eventually become a savior of the future human race and another Terminator is sent back to protect that human.

Perhaps one day James Cameron will return to the fold as both screenwriter and director and give us a film that at least lives up to the legacy of the franchise established by the first two films.

Plot hole: Sarah turns up on the bridge to fight the Rev-9, we later learn that she is texted the location of where to be as when the terminators travel though time it causes a gravitational anomaly, and this is where she needs to be. The Rev-9 had been there ages killing Dani's dad etc, Sarah would have no idea to be on the bridge after the terminator has chased them though the town - she can't possibly know that location.

Suggested correction: Sarah is very skilled at fighting Terminators. She receives the coordinates but knows that many other real-world factors may impede her progress to those coordinates, so she makes efforts to prepare for that. Also, the coordinates that she received for the Rev-9 may very well have told her to fight it on the bridge because the T800 who sent those coordinates knew that Sarah would also then be able to rescue Dani and Grace, and eventually meet up with him as a result.

I'd say the real reason Sarah is on the highway to fight Rev-9 is that she followed it. She misses the moment it arrived (from the future), she follows it to the car factory, but she misses it again, then she finally catches it up on the highway.

It is explicitly stated by the T800 Carl that he was sending Sarah the coordinates of where the terminators would appear, because the arrival would create a space-time wrinkle he is able to measure ahead of time. There is no indication he can predict the future events and send Sarah coordinates of places to be other than that.

Suggested correction: Sarah's truck can be seen in the background when Grace arrives. Grace doesn't look like any Skynet Terminator, and the time bubble she arrives in is different to the ones in T1 and T2. We can infer that Sarah followed Grace from her arrival to the bridge in an attempt to understand what was going on with the new time travellers before intervening.

Question: If Skynet was prevented from coming online, how did Legion develop the idea for creating terminators?

Darth Crucible

Answer: Skynet and Legion were both developed for identical purposes: defense network artificial intelligence. It stands to reason they would both evolve in similar ways. Since both Skynet and Legion were fighting a similar human resistance, they both developed similar infiltration units.
