Continuity mistake: When Nicole is telling Stu that he might as well call his gym "Old Hag Bikes", he is looking at her and smiling. It cuts to a close up of him and suddenly he's looking slightly up and off to the side with a pondering face. (00:53:25)
Continuity mistake: Stu picks up a guy after he's first introduced, and tells him to stop calling him "Stuber." In the first shot, Stu is looking in the other guy's direction, but when the camera cuts to a different angle suddenly Stu is looking straight ahead. (00:06:43)
Continuity mistake: Vic's colleague brings him the plate with the tiniest piece of cake, the red fork switches side between shots (it also gets upright in the next shot 'stabbing' the cake instead of lying on the plate, but that could have been done by her out of frame, even if it's not a gesture that makes a lot of sense). (00:08:55)
Continuity mistake: In the sequence when Vic trips on the camping tent and Stu pummels him with feminism, different takes have been used, and you can easily tell the objects on the ground change place, generally consistent with each angle. For instance, all the shots from a certain angle have a certain frying pan directly in front of the counter where Stu was lying down, but are gone in the others. (01:01:00)
Continuity mistake: When Stu throws baseball bats at Vic, the type of bat he's holding change more than once between shots. When Vic asks for a time out, for instance, Stu has a metal bat with a black handle that turns into a full wood one in the side view (also with the grip switched from the very bottom to a few inches higher), and then back to metal. (01:00:00)
Continuity mistake: In his escape from the cops at the beginning of the movie, we see Iko Uwais drop down 2 floors from the 8th, where Bautista and Gillan are. One more in the overhead POV. Another one in a separate shot. Another shot again, another floor down. Then he drops another floor. Then Batista hits him with the tray making him fall 2 floors, but we see with that shot the difference between the two, and it's of 5 floors. It does not add up. (00:03:35 - 00:04:20)
Continuity mistake: In the first confrontation with Tedjo, he kicks away Vic's glasses (obviously from the wrong distance, as there's no way that kick would connect) and they fight some more. When Vic misses with his punch, Tedjo kicks him in the chest, doing it with the left foot, that becomes the right foot in the following shot. (00:02:00)
Continuity mistake: Throughout the scene when Angie tells Vic about the Feds taking over the case, Vic's paperwork (the mugshot, the photo) change spot a few times. When Angie stands from the desk, Tedjo's mugshot is on Vic's cake's platter, even, but it's nice and clean back on the folder right after. (00:10:00)
Continuity mistake: Vic is chatting with her daughter at the Chinese restaurant. He tells her to stop breathing (the way she does it, at least). Cut to a brief reverse shot when she is eating from the chopsticks; she is replying to him immediately, mouth completely free. In that spot of the convo you can pick up more inconsistencies, like the hair on/off her shoulders, and next Batista's chopsticks held up that disappear during the following cut. (00:13:25)
Continuity mistake: Stu just picked up Vic and he needs to do a U turn; first time we see the street there's just a parked car and no incoming vehicles from the worksite, but all of a sudden one appears for the rest of the scene, honking at Stu as he struggles with the maneuver. (00:17:10)
Continuity mistake: After spearing Tedjo through the wall, Bautista throws a piece of equipment at him sending him flying back on his butt. Tedjo slides right past some artwork on the floor, but he is shown stunned at its side and partially on top of it in the following shot. (00:03:15)
Continuity mistake: Driving to Koreatown, Stu is trying to strike up conversation with Bautista. In some shots he has the sun on his shoulder, in others he does not. And it always changes between shots, never during a single time when the camera holds the same view. (00:18:00)
Continuity mistake: Stu messes up with Amo's Twitter at 5:37 PM. A few minutes pass and the shootout ensues. At the end of it, over in just a handful of minutes, it shouldn't be more than 6 PM, if at all. And yet the boss receives the text message at 7:29 PM. (00:48:55)
Continuity mistake: Talking with the stripper backstage, Stu reminisces about the time when "her Harry met my Sally." The two dancers in the background (sailor and mime with suspenders) are suddenly turned around when reflected in the mirror. (00:28:00)
Continuity mistake: Vic threatens Stu with giving him "zero stars"; Batista is pointing the phone at him and the tip of the index is at the top of the phone. Reverse shot, and he's holding the phone with all the fingers together at the side.
Continuity mistake: Spying on the 3 black cars waiting at the drop site, Stu muses about the possible versions of the plural holding the binoculars with both hands. When he opts for "Lexi", he's holding the device with just his right hand. (01:07:20)
Continuity mistake: Stuber is talking to his 'friend' and boss and son of the real boss; during the whole scene, when Batista is from the front he has his right arm bent, hand on the hip, but from the back has that arm down straight. (01:03:00)
Continuity mistake: In the weapon section of the store, Batista loads just one rifle into his cart. Then he picks up a second one, but when he puts it down you can see a third rifle is already there. (00:56:45)
Continuity mistake: Stu pulls over by the new customer (Vic); he bangs on the hood, then there's a reaction shot of Kumail Nanjiani, and then again a shot from inside the car. The wheel is turned differently between shots. (00:16:20)
Continuity mistake: Late at night in the store, Stu answers the call from Becca. Before the call ends, there's a close-up of the phone, held with his whole hand. In the last shot, Stu is holding it with just 2 fingers. (00:57:40)
