Continuity mistake: When the teacher asks to the class "Haven't we learned so much about food all over the world?" there's a blonde kid behind her who reaches for a crayon off-screen, then is prominently featured in the cutaway shot where she is drawing already on the paper with it, and then we're back to the same angle as before where she is -still - waiting for that crayon. Revealing mistake: The teacher has to stop the overzealous Stephanie from signing up to more than one task. Thing is, even before Anna Kendrick grabs the pen from the string, her name is written on the sheet already. (00:03:35)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the teacher asks "Has Nicky's mom volunteered?" The guy answers "Emily?" with his arms down his hips, but he had his arms folded across the chest just in the previous shot. (00:03:50)
Continuity mistake: The first time we see Emily, Stephanie is looking at her open the car door and make her way across the street. Even in slo-mo, it takes a few seconds. But before AND after the sequence, the same dad with a plaid shirt and dark jacket is coming out of the school. (00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: Stephanie and Emily are talking in front of the school. Behind Emily, the same person with a red raincoat and pink-red umbrella passes by twice, and when Stephanie says "I think you're joking, but great!" a girl with a red raincoat pops in the view of the door but is nowhere to be found in the next shot. Continuity mistake: For the first time at Emily's, Stephanie stops befuddled by the "beaver." When she says "Lifelike", Emily has her blonde hair over both shoulders, but in the next two close-ups there's none on her right shoulder, and then a few locks. It happens again at the end of that part of the scene when she walks away saying "No such luck" about the painting having any value. (00:07:05)
Continuity mistake: Asking about the painting, Stephanie turns her head towards Emily. She turns back towards the painting when Emily mentions the East Village, but then in the next shot she is still facing Emily. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: While they are talking about the swear jar, Emily removes the right cuff of her outfit in one shot, but has to fiddle with it for a lengthy period again in the next, since it was back on fully fastened. And then in the next shot she is casting aside...the left, and both are gone. (00:08:00)
Continuity mistake: Emily removes from her outfit the jacket and the dickey and leaves them on the couch before she gets booze (for some reason in another room). The dickey lies on top of the jacket, untouched and yet obviously in different ways in the various shots - look at it the first time, with just a little part sticking out over the couch and down its back, and then look at it when Emily comes back, and how the jacket and dickey are practically parallel. Continuity mistake: Fixing the first martinis, Emily is pouring from the mixer in one shot, and in the reverse angle she's already with both hands doing the finishing touches to the glasses. (00:11:20)
Continuity mistake: When Emily says that "Mother Theresa and I are, like, the same person" her fingers are suddenly wrapped around the glass in the second shot. When Sean arrives and Emily chastises Steph for saying "sorry" again, the glass also switches hands. (00:11:45)
Continuity mistake: When Sean is introduced for the first time, there's an obvious continuity issue with Blake Lively's hair over her right shoulder. (00:12:00)
Continuity mistake: Sean goes upstairs after botching Stephanie's name. Emily's glass suddenly reappears in her hand at the cut. (00:13:25)
Continuity mistake: At the park, Stephanie tells Emily "I think you're a supermom", and Emily tells her "Aww no you don't." She has in the second shot both hands joined in front of the crotch as opposed to the earlier position assumed in most of the scene, with the hands in front of her belly. (00:15:25)
Continuity mistake: When Stephanie gives the beads to the Emily, Emily's martini switches hands multiple times, and even the height she holds the glass at changes between shots. (00:17:00)
Continuity mistake: During the sequence where Emily shows Stephanie how to make a 'real' martini, the lemon on the chopping board is turned differently, appearing also more peeled or less peeled, in the various shots. (00:17:35)
Continuity mistake: Emily says that she can get a bathtub full of perfume to Stephanie, who got quite drunk. As she starts saying that she's sorry about the pictures, she puts on the table her drink using her right hand, but she had just gestured in front of the camera with an open hand in the shot before. In the same scene, the glass jumps back in her hand when Emily asks her "Wanna trade confessions?" (00:18:55)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the incest story, Emily says "I can't wait to see you cook", suddenly waiting for Stephanie's answer with her hand wide open instead of with the fingers curled by her chin. (00:22:55)
Continuity mistake: Stephanie and Sean have called the police to file the missing person report. The sergeant to conclude the chat asks him "Not planning any more trips?" In the transition between that shot and the next, the position of his hand changes, putting his pen vertical on the notepad in the second. (00:28:05)
Continuity mistake: After the talk with the police, Sean says he should call a cab and go home. His hand goes from below to the counter, to above it. Likewise, Stephanie checks her watch without and then with her elbow leaning on it. (00:29:00)
