Continuity mistake: After the hot cocoa is spilled, the stains on Will Ferrell's shirt keep changing from shot to shot.
Factual error: The movie is set over Christmas, but Forsythia (bushes with yellow flowers) only bloom in the spring.
Trivia: Mel Gibson (born in 1956) is only fifteen years older than his on-screen son Mark Wahlberg (born in 1971).
