Revealing mistake: Many of the shots of Champ preparing for the race are reused numerous times throughout the scene. Specifically, the overview shots of Champ driving, the shot of Champ driving around a corner and the shot of Coupe and Wrangler watching Champ on the television. (00:12:25)
Audio problem: When Lugnut is driving to place the bet, he is heard singing to himself, but his lips do not move. (00:17:15)
Revealing mistake: Lugnut is driving to place and stops to look around to see where the race betting is. When he stops, it is apparent that there was no animation used to show him stopping, but really, the animation was just paused in attempt to give the illusion that he stopped. (00:17:35)
Continuity mistake: When Lugnut goes to place the bet, he lifts the bag of money from the hook in his truck and moves it towards the betting window, with the bag of money still inside the hook. In the next shot, the bag of money is suddenly on the window of the betting booth, no longer in the hook. (00:17:35)
Character mistake: When Cruise leaves to go deliver the package to the warehouse, Coupe says to Mr. V8, "Look at Cruise go. He'd make a great racer, wouldn't he?" Coupe is visibly looking annoyed when she is saying the line, as judged by the angry facial expression she is pulling, but there is no reason for he to be annoyed nor is she talking in an annoyed manner. Audio problem: When Wrangler goes to sabotage the Champ's fuel supply, he approaches the gasoline tank saying, "Once the Champ knocks back a quart of this go juice, I think he'll find his get up and go, is all gone." Wrangler can be seen in the shot when he says, "Once the Champ", but his lips do not move. (00:20:10)
Continuity mistake: When Wrangler has finished tainting Champ's fuel supply, he proceeds to leave and bumps into a canister shortly after he begins to drive out. The canister falls directly forwards, and lands directly in front of his right headlight. Wrangler then continues to drive forwards, but the canister is now more to his side. (00:20:25)
Other mistake: Wrangler knocks over a canister of oil which starts spilling oil onto the ground. There is a hole visible on the canister where the oil should be spilling out of, but no oil is shown spilling out of the hole. It is just shown spilling across the ground on its own. (00:20:35)
Other mistake: The canister that Wrangler knocks over when he taints the Champ's fuel supply starts spilling oil onto the ground. A puddle can be seen being made from the spilt oil and is shown spreading across the ground just before the scene ends. When the oil puddle is found the next day, it is virtually the exact same size as it was the previous night when the scene ended, even though the puddle was in the middle of spreading across the ground. Character mistake: When Cruise goes to see if the Champ is OK, he says his boss bet all the money on the race. It was not his boss who bet the money, it was Lugnut who bet the money. (00:25:10)
Revealing mistake: During the final race, Wrangler is shown knocking a yellow car off the race course. A few seconds before this, there are two shots from behind Wrangler, that are just still frames. The shot does not show Wrangler driving or even moving and is completely still. The shot from behind is merely just a still image, that has been extended to last a split second. The same still frame image is also repeated two shots later. (00:27:35)
Continuity mistake: After Lugnut says "Pedal to the metal" and the Champ's mechanic says, "Come on, Cruise, come on", the scene cuts to Cruise and Wrangler on the race course. Wrangler is ahead of Cruise and Cruise is behind Wrangler, to his right. In the next shot, Cruise is suddenly directly behind Wrangler. (00:28:35)
Continuity mistake: When Wrangler drives over the nails on the road, he comes to an abrupt stop. When he stops, the tyres are still positioned in the same place, but in the next shot, the tyres are suddenly dislodged and sticking out of the car, as a way of representing he has broken down. (00:30:25)
