Revealing mistake: When Mike browses his own everyday phone looking at the photos, the phone shows a "no SIM" message. (01:00:00)
Continuity mistake: With his wife unconscious, Mike puts a towel under the bleeding arm. Look at the cut, and how the string of the pyjama bottoms rests differently between these two shots. (01:03:05)
Continuity mistake: Mike explains to his wife that she was cutting herself. Sarah Wayne Callies' hair falls in front of her shoulder in the shots from behind, not so in the frontals. (01:03:15)
Factual error: A corpse that has been dead for hours is still bleeding the moment the coroner pricks the skin with a scalpel. Here it is particularly incongruous because the victim died 'cooked' from within and the internal organs, as shown, are all burnt to a crisp. The coroner also did not open the victim's mouth before getting to the cutting bit; it's like he did not perform the most basic check first. (01:04:00)
Other mistake: Mike's professor friend finds the key to the mystery (the symbol of an ancient Celtic Goddess, called...the Celtic Goddess?) in a non-so-ancient text; "The Legend of Good Women" by Chaucer. Hardly the text to use to dig up for ancient pagan rituals and forgotten deities. (01:04:45)
Character mistake: Talking with the priestess, Nicholas Cage says that "two days ago" he started seeing his son and hearing his voice. It started 3 days ago, not two. (01:08:20)
Character mistake: Hannah says that the mob arrived to the widow's home on Halloween Night, but the flashback shows daylight. (01:11:00)
Continuity mistake: Charlie is climbing over his dad towards safety. When Nic Cage says "Up!" the kid's arm moves up to reach the ledge, and then does it again in the next shot. (01:26:35)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, when the kid says "Dad promised me..." the mom suddenly has her hand on his face mid-sentence at the cut. (01:28:00)
