Continuity mistake: After Sidney slaps Gale on the face, Gale's hair changes its appearance / position between the two reaction shots. (00:24:25)
Continuity mistake: Both when Gale speaks into the microphone saying "Tell us everything that's happened", and when she wags her finger at her motioning her not to punch her, her hand is at heights inconsistent between shots. (00:25:15)
Continuity mistake: After Sidney backhanded Gale, Joel reacts with a weird falsetto (actor improv, according to the DVD commentary) mocking Hallie. He had his left hand off the equipment, but in that reaction shot he's holding it with both. (00:25:35)
Continuity mistake: Gale massages her chin after she's hit, but does it alternatively with her thumb tucked under the chin or outwards, depending on the camera angle. (00:25:45)
Continuity mistake: Cici wrongly assumes his ex is at the phone and says his name; "Ted?" The blue pillow she's leaning her right part of the body agains changes position between shots. (00:29:35)
Continuity mistake: When ACICI apologizes for calling the guy "Ted" and says "I thought you were someone else" she is suddenly touching her left cheek between shots. (00:30:00)
Continuity mistake: On the couch, Cici asks the friendly voice "Who are you calling for?" Notice the way she holds the phone, and how her middle finger is on top of the last two fingers. It's tucked back in the close-up ("What if I say goodbye?"). (00:30:25)
Factual error: When Cici is about to be killed she throws the phone onto the floor without hanging up yet the killer calls her again and the phone rings. Surely it would be engaged if she had not hung up. (00:33:05)
Suggested correction: Before she throws the phone on the floor, you can hear specifically the tone indicating that she pushed the button to end the conversation. The dramatic horror movie riff fires off right at that time so you may have to pay extra attention to pick up the sound before the string section assaults your ears, but the beep is there.
Continuity mistake: When Cici is running away from the killer, when they reach the second floor of the sorority house the distance between them greatly increases between shots. (00:33:10)
Continuity mistake: When Cici is thrown from the balcony there is debris from the window all around her (glass & window pane fragments), but if you watch when she is thrown through the window in the first place, it is only a bit of debris went that far away, not nearly as much as it is shown around her. (00:33:10)
Revealing mistake: When the killer is attacking Cici on the balcony, you can see blood on Cici's back before she is even stabbed and both times she is stabbed, the knife that comes out of her back has no blood on it. (00:33:20)
Revealing mistake: When Cici is stabbed in the sorority house, her shirt is bloody, but there is not a hole in the material. (00:33:20)
Visible crew/equipment: If you look really close in the background as the killer throws Cici off the balcony, you can see someone sitting in a tree, wearing black, with a camera. (00:33:35)
Visible crew/equipment: When Cici is killed, just before the killer throws her off the balcony there is a visible member of crew/stunt's head (this has been edited out in newer versions, but remains visible in others). (00:33:50)
Continuity mistake: Cici throws a plant at Ghostface as she's running away from him, but it barely slows him down. They round a corner around the banister and he is chasing her right behind her, only about 2 or 3 feet behind her at most. But then it cuts to another shot and suddenly she's down a hallway and instantly put a lot of distance between herself and Ghostface before he's even entering the hall. (00:34:40)
Visible crew/equipment: Hearing about what happened at Omega Beta Zeta, Derek tells Sidney "let's get you home" and when she gets inside the camera comes closer to Jerry O'Connell for a dramatic shot...that catches in frame part of the stage light. Actually spotted by Wes Craven during the DVD commentary track. (00:38:35)
Continuity mistake: When Sidney answers the phone at the sorority, look at her sheer top under the jacket; reaches almost the neck (you can backtrack the moment when it rose from its optimal fit; she put the jacket in the same take and that ended up pulling the underneath garment a bit). At the next cut, the top rests lower as it should. (00:39:20)
Continuity mistake: Trying to kill Sidney, Ghostface plunges into the front door of Delta Lambda a knife that is soaked in blood - even if they already cleaned ACICI's. Derek on the other side of the door looks at a knife that is mostly clean except a couple of tiny specks by the blade, and Ghostface pulls the knife back again bloodstained. (00:39:40)
Other mistake: Ghostface tries to kill Sidney by the front door of the sorority house, and the pendulum clock shows it's 12:10, which fits also the timeline with CiCi's murder. Running away from him though, Sid passes by a mantle in the party room that has a clock that strikes 10 to 7. (00:39:40)
Continuity mistake: When Chief Hartley writes "Cici Cooper" on the chalkboard, between the closeup and wideshot of him writing, the handwriting and location of his writing dramatically changes, and the words "Maureen Evans" and "Phil Stevens" above, also change too. (00:41:20)
