Continuity mistake: When Gale makes her entrance in the room with all the teenagers at the party, look at her position in particular in relation with Matthew Lillard; she wouldn't pass Sidney by in the spot when it happens, and she approaches him in different positions. (01:03:50)
Continuity mistake: In the garage, Tatum slams the fridge door into the killers face, the killer knocks the door with his arm, and it opens fully. But in the next wide shot of the killer getting up, the fridge door is closed. (01:03:55)
Suggested correction: It happens 01:06:42-43 and Tatum's hand is hovering in the background, she closes it off-frame slightly.
Continuity mistake: When Tatum is throwing beer bottles at ghost face in the garage, there is beer and foam all over his costume...until he lands on the stairs behind her. (01:04:10)
Continuity mistake: When Ghostface is trying to kill Tatum in the garage, she tries to go through the doggie door. From the outside shot, she is out of the door from her arms and up. From the inside shot, she is out of the door from her hips and up. (01:04:20)
Continuity mistake: In the garage scene, the position of the items by the door and switches changes without in theory anyone touching them, and does it suddenly too. For instance look at the blue board and how it is tilted towards the railing after Tatum has thrown the last bottle, or how the silver and red board is in front or behind another item. (01:05:00 - 01:07:00)
Continuity mistake: In the garage scene, Tatum grabs 5 bottles of beer. She initially has 4 of them in her right hand, a single one in her left, and in fact she can easily reach the fridge door and close it with that hand. New shot, and she is not closing the door anymore with her left hand, suddenly busy with the other bottles, and she has to use her foot. (01:05:05)
Continuity mistake: When Tatum goes into the garage before she gets killed,she goes to get beer. She then walks over to the garage door opener with the beer in her right hand. Her left hand is reaching up to push the button, but as they show the close up, it is her right hand pushing the button. (01:05:35)
Continuity mistake: The killer is holding the knife he uses to cut Tatum at an angle that changes between shots when he's threatening her. (01:06:25)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Tatum gets closed in the garage door, the first time it shows her arm hanging down. In the next scene, it shows her arm caught in the door. (01:07:30 - 01:22:15)
Continuity mistake: When Sid and Billy make out and talk about Meg Ryan and other kinds of movies, their hands go on and off the back of their heads between shots. (01:11:00)
Continuity mistake: When Randy is explaining the rules of a horror movie to the people at the party he pauses the movie and says "Jesus Christ you don't know the rules?" When the camera guy is in his van later we hear this audio again on the recorder but instead Randy just says "You don't know the rules." (01:13:00 - 01:14:00)
Continuity mistake: Randy pauses the movie and gets up to explain "the rules." Stu comments "Have an aneurysm, why don't ya?" Matthew Lillard's hand is in a different position in that shot. Not only that; the only extra you can partially see on the right in the background, in the previous shot made a disappointed gesture and lowered his arm, and in this new shot he lowers it again anew. Continuity mistake: When Randy explains the "Rules" to everyone and mentions the rule of no sex only two guys throw popcorn at him. Also they only throw one piece at a time, yet when Randy says "Big nono, big nono" you can see bucket loads of popcorn flying at him. (01:13:20)
Continuity mistake: When Randy pauses Halloween to launch himself into the famous "rules to survive a horror movie" speech, look at the table. There are two bottles of beer, the leftmost one apparently still with a cap. You can still see it when everyone toasts to the "no drugs and booze" rule. But as he reaches the third rule, the "I'll be right back" one, that beer is gone, and Stu is leaving to get himself a new beer. (01:13:35)
Continuity mistake: When Gale and Dewey nearly end up as roadkill for a bunch of teenagers who are really on a rush to go see Fonzie hanging by his entrails, Gail initially is on Dewey's right, and you can see Courteney Cox pulling David Arquette's right arm. The stuntpersons though are in a different position, the woman being on the left. (01:17:50)
Continuity mistake: After her first time with Billy, Sid brushes her hair. She puts the brush back on the bedstand, but the phone on it changes angle between shots. Later in the scene, you can also see the brush's handle sticking out from the side of the bedstand by the bed, or the one facing front. (01:18:55)
Continuity mistake: When Sidney and Billy are talking in the bedroom at Stu's house, when the camera is on Billy, Sidney's hair is in a different position than when the camera is on her. (01:20:00)
Continuity mistake: Off-balance on the roof as she shouts for help, Sid is hanging by the window with one hand or both depending on the shot. (01:21:45)
Continuity mistake: Plummeting from the roof onto a boat, Sid causes a wetsuit (or a similar kind of fabric) to fall off. In the closer shot, the cloth is much more entangled than in the other view - look at the pink band. (01:21:55)
Continuity mistake: After Courtney Cox runs to the van when she's being chased, she hops into the van and throws it into reverse, guns it, then slams on the brakes, and the body falls down onto the windshield. Slamming on the brakes after going in reverse would cause the body to fall the other way, toward the back of the van. (01:22:50)
