Factual error: At the tunnel scene you see the "Delta" members using the single tube N.V.G. Delta has been using the standard binocular type for years now.
Factual error: The lightbars seen on the Mexican Federal Police trucks in Juárez are incorrect - they show both red and blue lights to the front, but actual MFP vehicles show only reds to the front. Also the uniform vests are in Portuguese, not Spanish - the accent is on the wrong "i."
Title Card: The word Sicario comes from the zealots of Jerusalem, killers who hunted the Romans who invaded their homeland. In Mexico, Sicario means hitman.
Trivia: Originally, Alejandro was meant to have much more dialogue, and his tragic origin would have been revealed earlier in the film. Actor Benicio Del Toro and director Denis Villeneuve ended up agreeing that the character worked better as a silent, mysterious type and that the revelation of his origin should occur late in the film. It is estimated that as much as 90% of his dialogue was deleted during rewrites.
