Continuity mistake: When Ben talks to the driver with unhealthy drinking habits, the shadows of the foliage behind Mark change between shots. (00:30:35)
Continuity mistake: The morning Ben cleans up the messy desk, there are two opening shots of the building. The first one shows the sidewalk in front of the factory perfectly sunlit with noon shadows, followed by another one with significantly different shadows (more appropriate to the early morning scenario). (00:27:10)
Continuity mistake: Ben just got out of Jules' office with her jacket to send to the cleaners. Becky calls him; she is holding the folders to her chest. She does not change position in the reverse shot. But in the rest of the scene she holds the folders against her side. (00:26:10)
Continuity mistake: When Jules slides her Yves Saint Laurent jacket across the table, the jacket is bundled up in a different way in the separate shots. (00:25:45)
Continuity mistake: Jules feels icky at the sight of the abominable mess left on a desk by the employees. In the close-up of the guy that dumps a box on it, the items are not in the same position as in the other shots - look at the Kate Moss book at the top, and at the red striped shirt that suddenly shows its label. (00:23:15)
Continuity mistake: Jay is telling Ben the story of his faux pas with Becky. When he gets to the part about the mail and mentions the subject, the same person in the background (dark green short, light bag) is at the same spot even after a long cut on Jay that details the quantity of OS in "sorry." Same thing a few seconds later when he talks about the emoticon's tear and another girl, closer to him in the foreground, moves right to left. (00:22:35)
Continuity mistake: Ben is tutoring Davis when Jay interrupts them saying "Hey, look, here she comes, watch how she won't even..." The sentence is spoken across two separate shots, and in the second he's pointing at himself, in the first he is not. (00:21:35)
Continuity mistake: Ben is talking to the secretary about the 3:55 appointment. When Becky points at the door to Jules' office, she is holding a pen that vanishes in the next shot. (00:17:35)
Continuity mistake: Asked by Jay, Ben says that he's gonna be a personal intern. A woman on the background is walking left to right. "Nice", he immediately replies, and the woman meanwhile already reached the other side of the room. (00:15:45)
Continuity mistake: When De Niro does a De Niro face at the intern that will help him with the laptop a moment later, he has his leather organizer in hand. He then opens the briefcase, which contains also the organizer. (00:15:00)
Continuity mistake: On the first day as intern, Ben sits down at the desk and there's a wide shot of the room. The 'normal age' intern opens the laptop immediately, but when we see a moment later that he empties his bag's content on the desk, the laptop is closed. (00:14:45)
Continuity mistake: When Jules' secretary follows her and tells her about the meeting and then her mom, a black guy in a blue shirt and grey sweater walks around the line of desks in the background twice in a row and carries a folder with a different hand in the first 2 shots. Similarly, a girl with a pink sweater repeats the action (walking past them and checking them out). (00:07:40)
Continuity mistake: Jules' secretary is telling her about all the stuff she has to do now that she's done being the best customer service gal ever. She said that she wants to implement online shopping with friends. The secretary has the pen at the ready in front of the post-it notes. Next shot (Jules says "E-mail me that idea") and the secretary only then is pulling the pen out from behind the notes. (00:07:35)
Continuity mistake: Patty reminds Ben that he's not getting any younger as she uses her left hand to make a couple of gestures (she touches her chin, then her hair). Neither is linked to the hand position in the other shots. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: When Patty tells Ben that she could add salad to his frozen lasagna and turn it into a dinner for two, De Niro one moment is holding the shopping back with his left hand on the handles, and the next he has the bag in his arms. Besides the little jump in montage (which anyway does come off as pretty natural), the double set of handles overlap in one camera angle, and they diverge in the other. (00:04:05)
Continuity mistake: Ben is commenting the flyer with the flirty woman he's not interested in. He asks, leaving the phrase hanging, "Isn't that the outfit that was...?" Gesticulating, he waves the flyer towards his left, but he's holding it still in front of Patty in the reverse angle. (00:03:30)
Factual error: The movie is set in 2015 as clearly stated. When Ben reads the newspaper waiting for Jules' first mail after their meeting, the newspaper he's holding shows the headline "NFL Revises Settlement, Making Open-Ended Pledge", which was from the New York Times of June 26, 2014, and when his co-workers helpfully cover his obviously portentous erection with the newspaper, they do it using a page from July 7, "The Fallacy of Balanced Literacy" (this one detail is helped by freeze-frame, since the page is upside-down). Moreover, when Jules joins Matt in the bedroom after she fell asleep herself with Paige, the TV in the room is playing Jimmy Fallon's show from March 5th, again of 2014. (00:20:05 - 00:38:40)
Other mistake: Setting up Facebook, Jules asks Ben about his favourite music. He starts answering, and unless she typed "Sam Cooke" twice and added De Niro's initial exclamation "Jeez" as a musician, she started typing too early and pressed too many keys - besides, you can tell that Anne Hathaway is just doing 'the thing' people do in movies when they go all jazz-handsy over the keyboard pretending to type. (00:54:25)
Other mistake: In the scene with De Niro answering the early morning phone call from Becky that tells her that Jules' driver is MIA, the alarm clock is turned off - in other parts of the movie you could see the sweep hand's constant motion, absent here. (00:40:45)
Other mistake: Ben randomly picks one of the laptops at the intern table. He does not even know how to turn it on, and hits the space bar because Lewis tap it on his own, but somehow that laptop he chose out of all the others is properly logged in with his credentials, because his own personal email is there waiting to be read.
