Child 44 is another take on the Russian child murders that had rocked the Soviet Union during the 70s. This time, everyone has thicker accents and there is much more violence. This is NOT Donald Sutherland and Steven Rea's Citizen X but an indictment of the USSR, basically. See Tom Hardy before he became Venom.

Title Card: There is no murder in paradise.
Title Card: In 1933, at the height of Joseph Stalin's state-imposed famine against the Ukrainian people, an estimated 25,000 died each day from starvation. The systematic extermination by hunger known as the Holodomor, left millions of children orphaned.
