Factual error: In the prom scene in which Romy and Michelle wear Madonna costumes, Romy is wearing her hair up in a distinctive ponytail assumingly inspired by the famous ponytail Madonna sported in her Blond Ambition World Tour. However, this scene is supposed to be taking place in around 1987 and Madonna did not wear that ponytail until 1990.
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997)
1 factual error - chronological order
Directed by: David Mirkin
Starring: Lisa Kudrow, Alan Cumming, Janeane Garofalo, Mira Sorvino
Genres: Comedy
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie when Romy reunites with Heather Moony, Heather tells Romy that she invented the cigarette which she is smoking and takes a puff to show how fast it burns down, and the cigarette burns to the butt. But in the next scene her cigarette is still to its half-way point. (00:07:25)
Michele: I'm the Mary, and you're the Rhoda.
Romy: YOU'RE the Rhoda, you're the Jewish one.
Trivia: In Michele's dream, when it is at the awards part, and Michele and Romy are going up to the state to get their medals, watch for when there is a long shot of the scene. Just above the awards stage, there are a carrot and banana, made out of balloons and obviously intended to be part of the decorations; exact replicas of the magnets Kristy stuck on Michele's back earlier. Maybe it's supposed to be a metaphor for revisiting the past - something that you normally do at a reunion.
Question: In one of the flashbacks, after Kristy put the magnets on Michele's back, why did she eat Romy's hamburger? This just struck me as odd since the "popular girls" in movies are usually portrayed as dieting often, and they usually don't eat the junk food that the non-popular characters eat.
Answer: It was a way of her showing Romy that being popular (in high school) comes with "power" over the less popular students and ability to do what she wants without fear of retribution. Conversely, in order to try to be liked by a popular student, a less popular student will yield to the popular student and/or give (let her have) anything she wants, including her lunch. [It doesn't always work this way.].

Answer: She ate it because she's a bitch and wanted to hurt Romy. She didn't take it to eat for food.
