Visible crew/equipment: The two antagonists are talking about the Wolverines while standing in the street in town. This is moments before the building explosion goes off that Jennifer Grey planted. On the bottom of the frame, the shadow of the camera is visible.
Answer: Daryl's actions of swallowing the transmitter AND returning to the Wolverine camp branded him as both a coward and a traitor. He was killed, not as a safety precaution, but as a sentence for his "crime."
