Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet star in this sad romantic drama about an escaped convict who bonded with a lonely single mother and her son. Their relationship builds during the time that the convict stays in hiding with them. Tension mounts as suspicion grow and the audience learns about the tragic circumstances involving the main characters. Good performances, but not a happy film.

Erik M.

Factual error: Towards the end of the movie, when the escaped convict gets captured, there is a new style California license plate on the rear of one of the police cars. This film takes place in New Hampshire in the 1980s.

Adele: For all the discussions of body parts and hormones, they forget to mention how it feels. There's another kind of hunger. The hunger for human touch. Desire. People never tell you about how it feels. The longing.
