Factual error: When they were driving away from the bar, neither Zoe (driver) nor Breslin fastened their seatbelts. Seatbelts are mandatory in New York for the driver and passenger (s) and failure to "buckle up" is classified as a primary offense, meaning no other violation must be observed before police can stop and cite violators. (00:57:25)
Deliberate mistake: Bill's back is some distance from the middle gap in the curtains, but an exterior view of him hugging Ellen captures their faces as if they are standing closer to the window and the gap in the curtains is wider. (00:32:45)
Other mistake: Visser was face-to-face with Omar when she shot him in the neck (looked more like it would be in his mouth before the camera shift) yet she did not get any blood splatter on her shooting hand, face, or clothes. There also wasn't much blood on Omar considering he was hit with a near-contact if not actual contact shot. (00:45:41 - 00:47:12)
Revealing mistake: The 50 dollar bills that appear in the opening credits all have the same serial number (and you can find online the texture they used with great ease, just like the one for the 20 dollar bills stack). (00:03:45)
Factual error: When Laura dropped Cody off at school, there was one boy (far left side of screen) wearing shorts. In 1950s (and later) California, boys were required to wear long pants to school (no shorts!) and girls had to wear dresses. (00:15:26)
Other mistake: The GPS voice said, "Your destination is on your left", but Kath kept driving (slowly) on the dirt road and did not reach the cabin for over 30 seconds (longer than would be expected). A GPS system typically announces how many feet until you reach your destination, plus "You have reached your destination" after traveling that number of feet. (00:05:00 - 00:05:38)
Character mistake: Captor put a bomb under Orlando's desk chair and told him to hack into the bank and transfer $2 million into an account. Orlando responded, "If I get caught, I'm facing 20 [years in prison]." Captor's death threats to Orlando and his family members plus the actual bomb under Orlando's chair are more than enough proof of duress or coercion - legal defenses to engaging in a crime. Orlando would not be facing any prison time or criminal penalties after a legal defense was successfully raised. (00:20:07 - 00:23:20)
Revealing mistake: A white truck could be seen in Tamra's rear window, following her car at varying distances. After Tamra hit Randall on his bike, the white truck was still there but gone when the camera returned to a front view of Tamra. Use of a green screen - the truck could not have gone past the accident or "disappeared." (00:03:35 - 00:04:10)
Continuity mistake: Before Luis Velasquez is killed he is wearing glasses, but from a brief side shot his glasses are gone.
Continuity mistake: The clock on the wall behind Casey jumped from 10:45 to 11:00 while he was talking to his wife and daughter. At times, the clock appeared to have 3-4 hands and when a hand should have been visible behind his back pointing at "12", no hands could be seen. (00:19:16 - 00:19:46)
Continuity mistake: The clock on the wall behind Carl when he is pushing the wheelchair to Bess' room is at 11:58. After Carl puts Bess into the wheelchair and is pushing her down the hall, the clock is at 11:45 (or, possibly, 9:00). (00:14:08 - 00:15:40)
Revealing mistake: Initially, there is a little movement that can be seen in the passenger's side mirror on Juan's car, but it is subsequently reduced to still-frame. Also, the driver's side mirror is tilted upward, showing movement, but not in a typical position to enable viewing of vehicles behind the driver. (00:00:55)
Continuity mistake: The protagonist is puzzled by the sight of many people looking at the sky. When she decides to pull over and figure out the reason, the kids that were playing soccer in the lawn have changed position between shots. A much bigger inconsistency happens a minute later, when the eclipse obscures the sky (with a rather lo-tech effect that borders on being a revealing mistake itself), the kids have stopped playing ball, but in a longshot they are still shown playing. (00:03:00 - 00:04:15)
Continuity mistake: The mailbox is roughly parallel to Richard's SUV but is more perpendicular when he looks at the address number, then it is back to parallel. (00:06:40)
Other mistake: James told Det Vargas he left the bar "2:30, give or take" and Vargas responded, "bar closes at 2:30 [AM]." When Star approached James at the bar, she said, "When I see a guy alone at the bar at three in the morning..." It is questionable if Detective Vargas was correct about the closing time. Traditionally, bars in L.A. closed at 2:00 AM. CA's Business and Professional Code on serving alcoholic beverages apparently now allows serving alcohol until 3:00 (not 2:30) AM - was this in effect? (00:04:33 - 00:11:50)
Continuity mistake: Stan (Grandpa) gets impaled in his upper left arm by the metal jack part. The front of his jersey's short sleeve is saturated with blood, almost to the orange stripe near his shoulder. Helen goes to see her dad's injury, and Stan's upper shirt sleeve and shoulder are free of blood, but the lower part and his arm are covered. (00:12:09)
Continuity mistake: While the 2 main characters are playing pool the balls keep changing position and so does the cue chalk. (00:14:00 - 00:17:00)
Continuity mistake: Travis rearranged a photo on the desk, setting it partially in front of the box and the two pictures were a few inches apart. The next wide view showed the corner of the picture almost aligned with the box or slightly behind it and the two pictures were now almost touching. The angles and locations of the photos changed more than once. (00:09:40 - 00:10:03)
Continuity mistake: The views of Pinero's dead "trophy wife" from opposite sides of the bed were not consistent. From Seth's view, Pinero's wife was lying mostly on her right side with her hair covering her head/neck but otherwise not visible, and her right arm extended outward from her waist area. From the other side of the bed, Pinero's wife's long wavy hair was over her left breast and should have been visible from Seth's position but was not. The wife's right arm also extended outward from her shoulder area. (00:00:22 - 00:01:19)
Other mistake: When Tess says good night to Keith, the lights in the bedroom are on, but the switch is down (off position) but when she wakes up in the middle of the night, the lights are off and the switch is still down. We see a lamp on the same side as the switch but even if she turned it off manually, being plugged into that AC outlet would mean the lamp would probably be off based on the switch. If the switch was up in both shots, it would be different.
